Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Established in 1926, Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club has long been one of the Sacramento Valley's most treasured courses. First opened as a nine-hole layout, the course expanded to a full 18 holes in 1960. Mature oak trees line the lush fairways and small greens and there is also a canal that snakes through the entire property, coming into play on 12 holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers protecting the greens. You're in for a formidable test on this golf course but the rough is quite manageable and the layout isn't particularly long or hilly. Plumas Lake's 10th is one of the most memorable holes. This tough hole is a short par 5 that requires an accurate drive over a creek that crosses the fairway before you're faced with an elevated green.

I am looking forward to playin this course again
The creek that runs thru the course makes it fun and challanging
Nice course
This is a pretty flat course in a predominantly agricultural area on the east side of the Feather River. The course is mature and the fairways are well lined with a variety of trees. Despite the flat topography, the greens, which were all recently completely re-built, are multi-tiered and provide a good test for the putter.
Good value for a bit of a drive
Course was in good condition & grounds actively maintained.
The really great deal on the price made the longer drive
More tolerable.
Lower your expectations.......
If you go to this course expecting to be at a plush CC, you will be sorely disappointed. This is a muni, plain and simple. The holes have little separation, which makes it great for beginners.
Pros: Getting to see a herd of goats on hole 7; That was really cool!!
Cons: Beautiful old trees come into play on several of the holes. (What's the deal on hole 9? How the heck are you supposed to get a tee shot through those trees?)
It was worth what I paid to play on GN, but would not go back, even at the discounted rate.
I golfed here about 10 times now. Always good. The course, not me.
I do not know if I would want to pay the regular greens fee, but with Golfnow it is well worth it. They usually let us go before our tee time.
Super Friendly Staff
We were a little late coming from out of town, but, the staff was still able to get us out on the course. Course was in excellent shape. the greens had just been punched, but, really didn't slow the speed of your put. Greens, Large and very challenging.
love the course, fair ways are hard, you get role, greens will recieve a shot and hold. will play it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great course, greens are not to fast or to hard, fair ways role out, but are hard pan.
Plumas Lake Golf Course
Overall a nice local course. Twilight play is pretty reasonably priced for a moderate challenge. Stay away from the trees and you'll have a much better experience. Good luck out there.
This course is in great shape!
We thoroughly enjoyed the course. The greens were fast, well kept, and challenging. I highly recommend playing on a Monday as there was very few golfers out there. For the price, it is hard to beat the challenge of this course. Staff could be a little more friendly, and personable. I also have to advise, if you have a tee time earlier than 9 a.m. have breakfast first as there was no one in the restaurant. (Maybe because it was Monday). Check the weather forcast the night before as well. If it is a windy forcast, use a ball with lower trajectory. There are a few trees that need to be hit under throughout the course, and going over in the high winds can put you in unfavorable lies! Most of the fairways are pretty forgiving if you are a moderate handicap. I highly recommend this course if you are in the Yuba-Sutter area, or want to venture up from Sacramento. It is worth the drive, but again, go during the work week if you can to avoid the crowds, and definately use GolfNow.com!
Wide open course.
Challenging greens, groomed fairways, and course layout makes this an enjoy day on the course.
first time there nice layout.
for average players very forgiving, try to stay in play the rough is tall some places, exellent putting greens and tee boxes.
It has very challenging greens and is fun to play.
I would play it again. It's an old style course with tree lined fairways and contoured greens. Fairways are alittle thin, but still fun to play.
I'll have a second career as a lumberjack...
I got a spectacular deal for 18 holes and a cart on a Monday. It was a state holiday and I had the day off work, so I took advantage of the great weather. I've played the course before and I knew before I arrived what I was facing.
The course was in great shape, the greens were firm and the trees had ball magnets in them. Yep. You heard me. If there was a tree somewhere along my ball's flight path, my ball found it. I even hit the same tree twice on one hole! But that had nothing to do with the course, just my poor play. The course was great and if you can keep it in or near the fairway, it's actually a great place to play. Be forewarned, however, that if you miss the fairway you WILL have a tree in your way for your recovery shot. This place doesn't have an overabundance of trees (just its fair share,) but it has them very strategically placed for maximum effect. So, I Iike the course and I do recommend it (especially if you can get the kind of deal I got for green fees and a cart,) but remember to keep it in the short stuff or bring your chainsaw wedge because you'll be doing a pretty fair impersonation of a lumberjack!
Golf frindly to all handicappers
We were greeted by a very frindly and hepful staff, had a good warm up on a nice, but tight driving range and the carts assigned were above normal. The course was in very good condition & the pace of play was very comfortable. I would certainly recommend playing this course.
Play here a couple times a year and it is a pretty fun course
Its a good course for the money and greens are undulated
Fairways dry and little grass - greens tough to read!
Checked in and able to play two group together even though we were two tee times apart - reallly cooperative starter! Great hamburger although a bit expensive. The fairways need some help as the grass is gone and cart-path only on many holes. Once you were near the greens you had to be very careful getting on the green - skipped over some times - then puts were very tough. Suggest you take the Suran Wrap off the holes each morning. :) Actually my two groups had a super time!!
good bargain-greens great
course is in good shape-lots of roll on fairways-dormant and brown and dry but OK to hit off of--greens challenging and fast
Greens are in good shape but the the fairways lack any turf and lies are usually on bare dirt
With the good condition of the greens, it was very disappointing that the fairways were so bad. Most courses with dormant Bermuda fairways usually are much more playable.
Fairways are beat up and don't drain well, but the greens and bunkers are really nice.
Didn't have the most positive of experiences here after reading and hearing good things. I thought the staff was a bit "annoyed" that I wanted to play as a single and start on the back. I didn't even get a "Hello" from the Pro Shop when I arrived.
The course is dormant, but you could tell that it doesn't drain very well and if you walk, like I did, then your spikes will be caked with mud every two holes or so. I thought the fairways were pretty beat up and in poor overall condition. On the plus side, the greens and bunkers were in excellent condition. If it wasn't for those two factors, this would have been a 2/5 review.
