Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Established in 1926, Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club has long been one of the Sacramento Valley's most treasured courses. First opened as a nine-hole layout, the course expanded to a full 18 holes in 1960. Mature oak trees line the lush fairways and small greens and there is also a canal that snakes through the entire property, coming into play on 12 holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers protecting the greens. You're in for a formidable test on this golf course but the rough is quite manageable and the layout isn't particularly long or hilly. Plumas Lake's 10th is one of the most memorable holes. This tough hole is a short par 5 that requires an accurate drive over a creek that crosses the fairway before you're faced with an elevated green.

This course will challenge every aspect of your game.
I like to play Plumas Lake Golf Course. It is a moderatly difficult layout. The sand bunkers have been rebuilt and are in excellent shape. The fairways are pretty much void of leaves. For the amount of play this course gets the greens are kept in very good shape.
Muddy and needed some clean up
Understandably muddy, with wet weather this time of year, but it was almost impossible to find a ball that missed the fairway and large sticks and branches everywhere. The bunkers were raked and the course has great potential... holiday season? Short staff? Hard to tell.
will test your iron game
oldschool course , in ok condition considering the weather conditioins ! tough smaller undulated greens !
great in summer, average in winter months.
Not a great course to play in winter months, doesn't drain very well, Fairways die off and become compacted. The new sand in bunkers is great! Great layout and great greens.
GREAT OLD COURSE, STAY OUT OF THE TREES.
THE COURSE COMING INTO SHAPE. GET IT IN BEFORE THE RAIN. GREAT DEAL FOR THE $$$
Fast greens
Fun to play, must be able to hit the ball right to left and left to right...
Home course. It is challenging each time.
I always enjoying playing Plumas Lake. I have played it since 1965 and never tire of it's layout. The growth of trees have made the course more challenging as the years go by. Holes 6 and 11 and 18 make you think even before you arrive at them.
The couse can be very challenging based on the tees you select.
I play this course several times a month, so I know it pretty well. A few of the greens were looking pretty bad with some kind of fungus. Number one and eight greens seemed to be the worst. Otherwise in good shape for the fall. The greens are alway difficult to read and get the correct speed. Three putts are common. Some of the bunkers could use some additional sand.
Course in good shape
The course was in good shape, the number 1 green was the only things that really needed some attention.
tuff track
very challenging for this old hacker...lots of doglegs, bunkers, and those darn trees always get in my way...for the money i paid through golf now it was a deal!
great staff always go out of thier way to make you feel comfortable and welcome
They have gone out of their way to be helpful. The price is great for a course of this quality. The carts are clean and well maintained. The fairways are very friendly and ball loss is low. The greens are friendly and chalenging. This is one of my favorite courses to play even though the distance from Sac is a bit it is worth the drive.
fun course with lots of risk and reward available
Tee boxes definately need work. Most are in less than average condition. Sand traps need sand. That is why they are called sand traps. Most of these traps have a very thin layer of sand and there is no way of knowing this until you attempt your bunker shot. Digging feet in and finding sand underneath your feet is no guarantee that there will be sand under the ball.
Otherwise this is a very enjoyable course to play. green fees are reasonable.
Undulations on most greens
This is a great place to play a peaceful round of golf on a mature course.
One of my favorites
Well worth the drive for Sacramentans. The recent greens renovations are very well done. It's a shot-makers paradise since a varity of attacks are needed to score well here. My only disappointments come with the layout of Nos. 2 and 9. The second hole is moderately length with an almost immediate dogleg right. Tall trees guard the corner. I'm always left with a shot of 180+ to the most difficult green in the course. The ninth has trees in the middle of the fairway, literally. After 20+ rounds, I'm still puzzled how to play it off the tee.
The rest of the course is awesome.
Great value and excellent condition.
I hadn't played this course since 1996, and was pleasantly surprised with course conditions. Much improved since last time.
