Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.

Big Course

Laurel Hill was great, as always. It’s a long course - 6,389 yds from the white tees. A lot of uphill shots. Course conditions are top notch. It’s a little pricey, but you get what you pay for: driving range, great conditions, friendly professional staff, and great pace of play. I highly recommend Laurel Hill.

Course Rest Room Condition Very Poor

I was very shark and disappointed that the restrooms were filthy and gross. I had no choice but to use it as I could not use it outside. There were no toilet paper and no hand sanitizer to make my situation worse. I did not have a good round after that and my game sucked. I could not believe a this. When I stopped at the turn I mentioned it to the person at the grill but not able to speak to someone on management at the end of our round. When restrooms are no kept up to par the rating of any place goes down. I will definitely ask about the condition of the restrooms the next time. This was bad.

Heat

I couldn’t play but three holes due to the heat. However, the course was great.

The course needs better maintenance

I’ve been wanting to play this course for years, it’s a beautiful course and layout, challenging but fair. The maintenance is lacking. Most sand bunkers were not raked. The 18th hole was covered Goose droppings, most greens had too many divots to fix.

Great layout and practice area - course gets so much play

The course gets so much play - not surprising for its quality/price combo. The greens are really chewed up, especially for a few days after a rain storm. Beautiful layout. Extremely good value for the money.

Disappointing Customer Service & Product Delivery

Have played Laurel Hill many times prior to today and have to say for the record their service & product delivery to date is absolutely horrible. Given the green fee rates they charge which are premier rates which are not consistent with the lack of technology (GPS) & modern connections in their carts, primitive driving range structure which now requires patrons to walk with their clubs and balls to the field area to warm up before the round, beverage service person who must be getting timed for laps around the course (did not see her stopped and serving refreshments once during the entire round)—but she passed through swiftly on @ least 3 occasions.

I really like the course & its layout but Laurel Hills service & product delivery is not nearly where it needs to be based on costs…my chief service complaint was with Al, the starter who has the very wrong disposition for customer service and assistance as an ambassador to Laurel Hills service brand and reputation. He was having severe challenges with assigning me a cart so I could load my clubs and begin prepping to play. He seemed more preoccupied with repeatedly stating I couldn’t drive to the range than welcoming and thanking me for supporting his place of employment—more hassle than help seems to be their business & service model—it’ll be a while before I even consider returning—if @ all…

Late Friday Afternoon

Today was unusual .. no hold up & no slow play .. for once! .. anyhow, we teeed off 4:30 pm and only had about 4 hour to finish and got it done before the darkness hit. Overall the course was in very nice condition and the greens were running more faster than normal.

Better condition

I've played this layout a number of times. It's challenging, but fair. In the past, especially during hot weather, the golf course has been dramatically over-watered to the point you could have approach shot plug in greens. Today they let the greens slow a bit, and the fairways grow a bit, but the golf course remained firm. It was not over-watered. It was in good condition. I think there are better options than to pay $100 + to play at Laurel Hill, but at the price I paid it was a very good experience.
