Laurel Hill Golf Club
About
Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.

Best Public Golf Course in N. Va
Great Golf Course. The condition was perfect. Customer Service was outstanding. I will be going back many times
Laurel Hills
The is in great shape, greens, fairway and tee boxes where in good condition. Would recommend this course to anyone that ask me about it.
Great course
Hadn't played this course since the Publinx. It's in awesome shape, though the greens are a little on the slow side. Also, fairways may be a little over watered.
Course is a monster, lengthwise, but fair. Lot of uphill holes, so it plays longer than the yardage. Wide open, so you can can grip it and rip it. Better be able to get it up and down though because you are going to miss a lot of greens..
Friendly staff and they even had a course Marshall who did his job, and in an effective way. One of best public courses anywhere in the country. Highly recommend for the single to mid teens handicapper.
Laurel Hill great course
Laurel Hill is a great course and has one of the best layouts in the area. It tends to get a lot of play since it held the Pub Am championship, and the greens do get beat up, and players don't fix ball marks, leaving them not as good as they could be. But it's still a great course. Unfortunately we are victims of our environment and this course is not cheap, and it's hard to justify paying what they charge for a round on the weekend, so I do think they are way overpriced for what you get. But nevertheless a great course.
Upscale course
This is an excellent championship golf course;very unusual for a county owned facility. The course was in excellent condition. There are six sets of tees. There are also some very long par four holes, some of which play like par fives. There ish a beautiful turf area but it is very rarely available to the golfers, only on weekend mornings. My only complaint on the condition of the golf course was that the greens were too slow. Everything else was great.
For the advanced golfers
Excelent course, its a little long for the begginers but its worth taking a chance at.
Not for the weekend golfer
While I'm aware that they play an Amateur Championship here. The rough was US Open deep. When you lose a ball that just gets through the fairway into the rough..........you know the rough is too long. The greens looked like they had been carpet bombed with rocks. In need of a good rolling.
I play to a 9 hcp. I can't imagine how the wknd hacker could play there. Maybe that's why it wasn't that crowded for a twilight round. Up side, 4 hr round.
Overall great day!
I have heard in the past that the staff was very rude and unprofessional. I thought completely opposite. They were super friendly and also helpful. I had a great round and would definitly go back again when the price is lower.
Great Track just tough with winter conditions
I love Laurel Hill but the pace of place with it being winter conditions and cart path only made for a long 5 hour round. Tee boxes were pretty much frozen so bring a hammer to pound the tees into the ground. No Joke! I actually saw guys doing it.
it was winter
No question in my mind it is the nicest course in the Northern Virginia area.
if it weren't for the fact that it was winter time playing conditions I certainly would have given it a 5 star rating. the fairways are very nice right now but the Greens show some play. given the opportunity to play it again I would go in a second though.

Good Course/Usually Over priced
Good course, usually in very good condition. Very good short game practice area. Unless you get a good deal, the course is over-priced for what you get. I think they ride on the hype of some local tournaments. There are several course close by that I think are better and cheaper (Old Hickory, Westfields).
Nice course & Kind staff
Fairway and green condition is very nice and staffs in club are very kind.
GolfNow deal made it worth it
Course as always was in good shape. Carr path only because of the rain... Got a golfnow deal for 55-- normal round is 79. I find that high for the winter.
Laurel Hill is the best course in the NOVA region.
After experiencing Laurel Hill for the first time, I do think that this is probably the best course in this area. There are some challenging holes but there are also some forgiving holes. I was able to play 18 holes within 4 hours. I started at 1:07 PM and ended exactly at 5:00 PM before it got too dark.
Beautiful course
The courses view is great
The design is challenging
6400 yard from the white tee is long enough
Course maintenance is great except some ball marks on the green
Green speed is certainly faster than average
Practice facility is perfect
Great value for this course
The course was in great condition......and for the price excellent. Good mix of long & short holes
Always a treat
Greens aerated 3 weeks ago. In great shape now. Pace of play was good. Choose your tees carefully. White is plenty for most, and blue can be torture for those whose reach exceeds their grasp. For the money hands down best public course in the DC area.
Nice variety of holes.
Excellent municipal course. I played after early morning rain and the course played very well.
Challenging but fair course.
With a slope of 139 from the white tees, this course can appear a bit daunting, but it is a very fair test of any golfer's game. As a 20-handicapper I did not feel a bit intimidated. And, there is a good mix of both difficult and somewhat easier holes. The course was in very good condition, and the greens, despite being aerated recently, were close to normal conditions. I am looking forward to returning to Laurel Hill, and I recommend it highly.
Phenomenal experience
Greens were just aerated but still in great condition. Cannot wait to play them once there are perfect. Fairways have a lot of divers but they are filled in well and the fairway grass is perfect to strike from. Difficult holes and mediocre holes. Long and short par 4s I greened two drives from the blue tees but they were both difficult shots. Difficult well placed fairway bunkers as well as green side bunkers make this course about management in saving strokes. Reward for the bold but also heartbreak. Some of the holes bogey is par and some eagle is birdie just depends on course management. Overall great staff and friendly environment. Will definately be playing here a lot more often. Oh and may and grass practice range. Though the grass is only scalable on the weekends
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Most comments agree that this is great course and I agree, but it is way overpriced. Old Hickory, Westfield are easily as good and using GolfNow, swings the balance to one of those two courses over Laurel Hills.
