Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Great Track

Played this course a few times. It was in great shape. Tee boxes were a little thin. Probably had some of the hardest pin placements I've seen anywhere when I played. Greens are a defense of this course but they were receptive and rolled smooth.

Great layout

This a great golf course that will challenge anyone's game with multiple tee box's . The club house is in progress of being built now. Practice range is large with putting green ,sand bunker, and chipping green. Truly a hidden venue in Virginia a must play. The greens are receptive and roll true with different tiers. Putting the drive in the fairway is a must with trees and drop off on either side of the fairways. I travel 50 miles to play this track golf now has a couple of deals every day.

Oh so slow

Nice course layout ! Very challenging with lots of elevation changes! Pace of play was ridiculously slow ! Teed off at 1215 and could not finish before dark. Need to have rangers on course. Course was not that crowded. Riding course only long distances between green to next tee.

Great potential

The course was beautiful and appropriately challenging. Pace of play was awful and there was no marshal. This course could be great, but they have to deal with pace issues. My group won't return because it was a 5+ hour round.

Beautiful setting

One of the prettiest courses in Richmond. Great natural setting with each hole in a world of its own. Except for tenth and 18th really never see others playing . Makes for a great natural venue . Saw a few deer and three wild turkeys on a par three on the back nine . Course in very good shape . Traps could not verify earlier review because had been raining so weather of course affected their condition. Numerous tees , like as many as ten on one hole, so any skill level accommodated . Not only move tees for yardage but especially par three change direction to hole to make approach difficult or easy . Is a very hilly course so will have plenty of shots below or above feet . Elevation changes , multiple tier greens , slopes and traps stragically placed everywhere . Challenging , beautiful and great venue to enjoy a day in nature.

Beautiful course but......

Second time playing in 2 weeks, love this course. Only problem was pace of play. Took 4:40 to play 14 holes. Got to 15 and our group made 3 4somes on the tee, so we decided to call it quits. Don't think I will be returning any time soon, which is a shame because the course is great.

Beautiful setting for a golf course. Fairways and greens are well kept. Rough is just that! Many tee box options.

Tee times too close

Got a great deal booking tee times on GolfNow.com, however the scheduling if tee times only 10 min apart made for a bit of a slowdown on one side and a bit of a push on the other. Maybe the overbooking was to recover revenue for the discounted rounds????
Overall a beautiful course and enjoyable round. Will play again.

Deal

Other than the greens having been aerated, which we were aware of, the course was in accent shape. We thoroughly enjoyed playing and look forward to playing there again. Dink

Not what it use to be

The course is in good shape but it's not in the pristine condition it once was. The bunkers were in bad shape and the greens are furry. If you've never played this course you probably won't notice.

Need Marshalls

Teed off at 4pm in a 3 ball. Caught the fourball up several times - as at least one of them hit into trouble on every hole. Not once did they even look back to see that they were holding people up. Never mind let us through. The next group was over a hole in front. We had to eventually skip a hole to finish before dark. This and many other courses around here have the same issue of non-existent or ineffective marshalling. I'd suggest that clubs do not accept fourballs after 3pm or within 4 hours of the carts being due back. Great course - shot 75 from the blues.

wonderful day

We had a beautiful day, played @ 4pm on a weekday and even with the nice weather the course was empty. Pace of play was as good as it gets. The course was in terrific shape. It's a beautiful layout, lots of interesting holes. Difficult course for me, very hilly so many tough lies. It was a great value, for the money it was the best course I've played in the area.

Glad to play with a member

An excellent layout that had is playing 90 degrees since there was so much rain in VA the week before. There are many blind shots so being paired up with a member was a huge break. The fairways were a little spotty but we play lift/clean/place and that made the round fun.

Excellent layout, terrific staff who were polite and accommodating.

Will definitely play when we return.

Off my list

Obnoxious starter, no personality to course, fairways beat up, greens beat up, cart paths beat up, first and last time playing this course.
