Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Love fall golf

Well this was my second time playing Viniterra, first time middle August. Like the course . Challenging and numerous tee boxes to fit any golfer advance to intermediate . Not as enamored as first time I played. Beautiful , scenic but there were holes I did not remember. Some memorable , others average. Overall good condition , greens fast but true and in great shape . Numerous forced carries could upset the beginner And sand traps abound. No clubhouse really so don't plan on long stay at the nintenth hole. Overall a joy and very scenic 18 holes.

Nice course

Nice course, good value. Course harder than it looks, with wide open fairways but plenty of traps of you go astray. Definately one of the best in the Williamsburg area.

The course was great condition despite it had rained the night before. Course seemed to have drained fairly well. The greens were fast & true and lush.

All about the course! No clubhouse yet! Hopefully this course stays in business long enough for that to happen. In great condition. Challenging enough from the green tees for this 16 hc'er.

great layout with some very challenging tee shots

Course is beautifully laid out across a variety of terrain. Greens are challenging but fair. Generally there is more room off the tee than you might think.

Long, well-maintained course

This course has some long par 4's. I played from the middle set of tees and there were quite a few long par 4's and no notably short par 4's. The par 3's and par 5's were of reasonable length though. Choose your set of tees wisely. While the course is surrounded by woods in most places, there are some generous fairways rewarding marginal accuracy.
I would highly recommend this course if the price is right. I found a good deal on golfnow.com. It is located in a sort of "desert" for good golf on I-64, making it a good stopping point while traveling or visiting either Richmond or Williamsburg. Overall, I enjoyed the course and was impressed with its condition this late in the year.

Best Course I've Played

I'm still fairly new to golf, and while my abilities are not up to par with the course, it is still my favorite course that I've played. The course is beautiful and has been in great condition all three times I've played there this season.

Overall, I think this is a great course to play and would recommend it to anyone.

FANTASTIC LAYOUT IN GREAT SHAPE

We played the course on a beautiful day in early October. The "facilities" are not very impressive, but the course was fantastic--in great shape, and a very scenic layout all around. It was somewhat difficult, and you should be careful of the tees you choose. There are very few homes on the course for now, but that may change in the future. Greens true and very fast. Will play again when in the area.

Back in the game

I suggest you play from the green tees! This course is not a beginners course. It's a very challenging course. I enjoy playing very much. For the money it was very great. If your new beginner to golf in the past couple years I don't suggest the course. Be prepared to be humbled. If you're an experience golfer I suggest of course it's very challenging. It's beautiful and I had a wonderful time!

Hidden Gem

I love this course. I hope it survives; it seems that eventually homes will be built, but it's really in the middle of nowhere....so why build homes?

Love the course; I love Reese Jones courses and am happy this one is here...I almost had it to myself today.

Greens were nice, course is fun to play.

Challenging but very fair

Great course that I will come back to again. Challenging but fair, which is what I look for in a course. Course was in great condition and the greens rolled true, despite being kind of quick. The only downside was we picked a day that was hot as heck - but a nice breeze and ample shade helped.

The course plays long!!

The white t's are 6300 yards. This will be the longest 6300 yards you'll ever play. When the weather gets cool move to forward tees. Although the greens were aerated the course was in great shape. I will recommend and play this course again.

worth the drive

Richmond area lacks quality and value. Viniterra offers both at a short drive from the metro area. Course is challenging but fair to all levels of golfers.

Great Layout but course just aerated

Everything was good except for the aeration. Didn't find out until I booked and it was too late to cancel. Still made us pay for range balls and then rushed us out onto the course. Cart girls there are always the best!
