Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Day at Viniterra

I had been wanting to play this course. Finally got my chance and I can tell you it was worth the wait. This course gave me a comfortable challenge -- I'll be back on a regular basis.

very private, no homes. just a fantastic layout.

What a value, course fairways half greening up as weather warms up, but are in wonderful shape. Many tee boxes, my wife and I just had a wonderful expeireance. Greens are great, bunkers had good sand but wet fron recent rain. Come summer this is a 5 star course.

A drive worth taking

I found myself in the Williamsburg area Early on Sunday wanting to play on the way back to n. Va. At the new kent exit off rt. 64 is the Club at Vinitera, a great layout that is forgiving off the tee with nicely conditioned greens. The only knock was that it wasn't May (the course had not greened up yet) a real treat that I look forward to going with friends a showing off.

Great Course

This is an amazing course. I played on April 18th, so the green grass was still coming in. The course can be challenging and can play long (depending on the tees you play from). Greens are fast and bunkers are well maintained. I would recommend this course to anyone and some holes are right on a vineyard which is pretty cool.

Go for it!

Viniterra is a great track, well planned and challenging. Despite the recent aeration and winter brown grass the course was fun to play. Course conditions should improve to "excellent" with warm weather. I'll go back for sure.

Great Day!

They had just airiated and sanded the greens so putting was rough. Must be a beautiful place when the trees open and the grass is free.

Open During Heavy Winds, Rain and Sleet!!!!!!

My friends and I purchased a hot deal, which meant that the only way that we could obtain a refund or receive credit was if the course was closed.

We called the course and was greeted by an unfriendly staff member and received the same unfriendly welcome when we arrived at the course.

We were surprised that the course remained open while it continued to rain and sleet the entire round, but again that's the price we paid for taking advantage of a hot deal.

It was cart path only and many of the fairways were filled with rain and in my opinion unplayable.

It appears to be a good golf course and I'll have to reconsider with better weather.

Great course - pace of play was really slow

Course was in great shape and interesting layout. Hit it on a bad day as there were several very slow groups ahead of me. I ended up stopping my round after 13 holes due to the slowness of play.

Great layout

Drove two hours to play, well worth it! Temporary clubhouse, very small hot dogs, and a keurig coffee maker. But a very nice and pleasant staff, and a heck of a golf course. Could have used a ranger out there to combat the slowest foursome I ever saw. Ended up skipping a hole to get ahead of them and came back to it after I walked off of 18. Other than that, can't wait to come back when the course is 100% green!

GOOD QUALITY COURSE

FOR THE TIME OF YEAR THE COURSE WAS IN GREAT CONDITION. DO TO FOG HAD TO START A LITTLE LATE BUT THAT WAS NO FAULT OF THE FACILITY. WAS ABLE TO GET IN 18 AT A COURSE WORTHY OF THE MANY COMPLIMENTS I HAD HEARD ABOUT IT. GREAT LAYOUT AND AN OVERALL JOY TO PLAY. PICTURESQUE VIEWS OF SCENIC BEAUTY. QUALITY HOLES AND EVEN A MONTH AFTER PLAYING STILL FEEL THE ENJOYMENT I HAD PLAYING AT THIS MEMORABLE COURSE. AS I WRITE THIS REVIEW A MONTH AFTER PLAYING I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IN MUCH GOLF. THE WEATHER HASN'T BEEN FAVORABLE SO ITS NICE TO HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF A COURSE WORTH TELLING YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT.

tough course

First time playing the course, was damp and cold but greens were in great shape. Very tough course but would like to play it when weather is warm and course is dried out. Only issue we had was the staff (asst. pro?) wasn't friendly at all at check-in.

Great Experience

What a treat!!! Cold December day so only saw one twosome on the course besides me. At 7,800 yards from all the way back what a truly challenging course especially considering it was only 45 degrees. Great layout with a lot of character, slight elevation changes and beautiful landscape. Fairways were brown since they don't overseed, but the greens were in excellent condition. Would highly recommend to anyone, just make sure you choose the appropriate set of tees. Only downside is lots of distance between greens and tees so course cannot be walked.

Nice layout, challenging bunkers.

This course was very well-maintained. Challenging tee shots with many bunkers coming into play for longer hitters. Nice fast true rolling greens.
