The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

darn good
The course is very difficult but fair. generous fairway, greens are fair with not too difficult pin location. Visually intimidating but fun, good forced carries. I would recommend it to a friend, well worth it. The bad: not much of a club house. no one to push players, no starters. The golf course doesn't match up with the club house.
Nice Course!
My wife and I played here, for the 4th time in 2 years (with our golf group). As usual, a place we enjoy playing. Course in good condition, greens were very nice, and staff pleasant. Well worth your money - we would strongly recommend that you play this course. A nice change, and relaxing wineryside atmosphere.
Great design and environmentally aesthetic
I recommend this course to anyone that wants a high level golfing experience without the concern of going out of bounds in someone's back yard. What a joy to play a course that is surrounded by a natural setting without any homes in sight. Hopefully this course will stay this way.
A day at the beach
Toughest course I've played in VA. I think I spent more time in bunkers than I did on the fairway. Beautiful course, greens were flawless, and never felt pressured with the folks behind us.
A beautiful course
Played the day after some rain fell so the course was pretty wet all around. Otherwise, the course itself was very well-maintained. I especially enjoyed the little vineyard between the 9th and 18th holes.
A GEM!
4th time playing it, always a challenge! Couldn't beat the Hot Deal Price
Overrated
This course is so bland and overrated. There is no water to speak of, and you'd be hard-pressed to remember any of the holes because many of them seem identical. No club house, some guy that acts like he doesn't want you to play there, and workers basically on every hole no matter what time of day. Go up one more exit to Brickshire, you'll have much more fun.
Great greens.
Great coarse , I plan to bring my son in law their soon.
Solid golf course
The course was in good condition for mid summer. The layout is challenging but fun. I would recommend anyone who hasn't played this course to give it a try.
Excellent experience all around
This was the first time I have played this course, and I recommend it highly. We played the "up" tees (green), and it was sufficiently challenging for my twosome (both high single digit handicaps). Some of the traps needed work, but that was because it rained 3" the night before and they were working on the traps as we played. I will definitely return.
Highly recommend
This is one of the best in the Central Virginia area. Great layout. Plenty of tee locations to match your skill level. We played from the "blues" but found out quickly at our skill level the "whites" a better choice. Good value for the money.
Every hole was a different experience.
This is a Rees Jones design, with virtually every hole being different. Long cart rides between holes, through a meandering course, with lot of high and low areas. On most holes, your cart comes up from a ravine to the tee box, exposing the hole all at once. We played on a rainy Thursday, with only a few other people on the course. Played in less than 3 -1/2 hours.
Greens were large, fast, and undulating. Fairways cut low, with normal height rough. Play this course if in the Williamsburg, VA area.
Awesome
Not only is this course the best deal in the area the course is in great shape and on a great piece of land.
Resort quality course for a local price.
Love this place.
Generous fairways; challenging approach shots
This is an outstanding layout which was in very good condition, despite the heat and humidity of summer. Great value for the price!
A great course in great condition
Great course layout with some very challenging holes. Use the tee box that matches your handicap to make this an enjoyable round of golf. Sand traps were in great condition - I know, I was in them a lot!
Great design and real test of golf
This is a great design for an enjoyable day of golf and scenic rides between holes. A real test for long ball hitters. Not for beginners unless you play forward. Not a walkers course but a great one to ride. It had just rained a lot so we were on cart paths only. I look forward to my next round there.
Thank you for coming and playing us and for the kind comments. Rees Jones has created a special gem here!
Wonderful layout
I played with my father he is a good golfer but doesn't hit it far. He very much enjoyed playing the white tees at an appropriate length. While I can go to the back tees and challenge the course with my length. A very fair and challenging layout!
Great course
Always a good time here. Challenging course but fair
Fabulous design
This course is a real keeper to my list when I am in the area. Once the course fully matures, this will be one of the TOP courses in the area. Tremendous value. There is no rough and plenty of fairway space. Hit the drive on almost every hole. Greens rolled true and consistent, with many undulations. The greens offer many locations for interesting pin placements. Didn't lose a ball as the woods really don't come into play. I would say - "Definitely try this gem!"
