still poor conditions
Only the greens on the back 9 are in good shape, still not ready yet to come back.
Eastwood is coming back!
The folks at Eastwood seem to have it figured out. The new greens roll the best they ever have in the 17 years I've been playing here. If they keep working on the course and can maintain the greens, Eastwood will once again become a "must play" course for those living in and visiting the Orlando area.
Greens
Still under construction. New grass great bot still sand areas for new growth. Fairway ok no problem with them
Not a complete golf course.
Probably the worst golf course in the state of Florida. Greens were just redone and they are far from being playable. Bunkers are not playable and it doesn't look like they put any fertilizer on the rest of the course. Sad when a course that has potential is not maintained properly.
Missing the point
Greens and fairways are improving. Very disappointed to see so many bunkers being seeded with grass. Dumbing down the course by making it cheaper to maintain is understandable, not the answer to success though. What used to be one of Orlando best layouts (to the eye) is being ravaged senselessly by new management/ownership. Oh well at least I played it back when it was what the designer intended. I will not be returning...to this future goat ranch.
Getting better condition and TLC
The course is very fun to play and challenging! I was surprised that it is getting better condition than the last time I played there. Seem there are plenty of work underway. Can’t wait to come back again to play if it is in top shape!!!
The Course is coming back!
Enjoyed playing back 9 twice. Greens were good, fairways were good, and the course was in very clean condition. I heard the front 9 will be ready sometime in November. I am waiting to see.
More time
This golf course is only open the back nine, and all bunkers still under reconstruction. All greens in the back nine are in excellent condition. For the price I think is ok to play the back nine twice .
Working hard to improve conditions
Played back nine twice, front nine closed due to open soon. New greens on back nine rolled true with speeds very consistent. While they have a lots of work left to do, conditions were considerably better than recent reviews indicate.
Lost Glory
Well, Eastwood used to be my favorite course but it's since fallen from glory and is just a literal overgrown shadow of its former self. Perhaps the owners/staff are trying to rehabilitate it, perhaps not, but the greens were shut down for rehab, although many looked fine. This meant that the new green was the end of the fairway, where they just dug a hole and called it the de facto green that were also overgrown and impossible to put on really. The bunkers were overgrown with weeds. The drainage of the fairways was so poor that hitting off the tee, your ball would make an impact crater and be covered by overgrowth. I lost several balls that split the fairway because I simply could not find them amongst the grass. Others must've done the same, as I'd find balls about every 3 holes lying in plain view. Half of the bridges were in such disrepair I thought driving over them in the cart would collapse it and make us gator food. Many of the cart paths had tree limbs laying next to it, good that they're trying to clear it, stupid that they didn't just throw the limb back into the woods, really unprofessional. All that said, I really want this course to make a comeback. I absolutely love the layout and feel of the course. From the wooded theme to the great variety of holes, and even some impressive and interesting elevation changes (17th hole in particular), Eastwood is one of my first and favorite courses to play. At this point the neglect has simply taken over, and I don't think I will return for a few months, at least until the rainy season ends so you can actually play without slopping around. Please don't give up Eastwood! I don't want to see you go!
Poor condition
Flooded sand dunes. Porly maintained greens. Tee moved to fairway not maintained
Nice course
Nice course and they did adv that they had fake greens due to redoing thei orginial. The price was great and they told me again when I check in. No biggie. Wanted to work more on my other game. Can't wait to see the new greens
Weedwood!
Even at only $10 w/ cart included I would not play here again. I played here in the past but it has really gone down hill! Didn't catch the notification that they had temporary greens until we were told at the club. Temp green means a hole in the ground and none of the grass is cut. Didn't even bother to take my putter out one single hole! The course is green thanks to all the rain but they don't cut the grass! We were losing balls in the middle of the fairway! Because of the temp greens and new tee box placement, you lose at least 60 yards on each par 3. Someone was leaving as we started and he said "Enjoy your round at Weedwood" . The ant were worse that the weeds, they were everywhere in large mounds. Save you money!
Improving
The staff is working at making this course a better place to play. After years of neglect, temporary greens are in place and newly seeded and improved greens will be in place by mid-October. Although the grass in the fairways is even, it is deep enough to lose a ball (or in my case - 2 on the same hole). Incessant rains have made some cutting difficult. Not excuses, explanations.
Course is full length from tee box to greens, but the putting greens are not maintained. It's a good course for practicing of the tee, fairway shots, and chipping. But again...no putting.
Eastwood Golf Cours
This is the worst course I have ever played. I'm not speaking about the green being under repair which is understandable. But the fairways remind me of a cow pasture minus the patties and they were in swampy conditions due to por or no drainage. I would not recommend this course to my worst enemy. I would close this course and repair to resemble a golf course.
Almost asked for a refund
Upon arrival we were informed that the course was going to have new grass put in later on in the year, which obviously meant to not expect the most beautiful landscape that day. But apparently to them, it meant that they could completely give up on maintenance until then. The fairways had longer grass than what you'd find on most course's roughs, which not only crucially altered our iron game, but also caused us to spend way too long of time searching for a well hit ball every other shot (often giving up the search and calling it a lost ball IN THE FAIRWAY). The greens were also unbearably dirt patch ridden and the bunkers often had grass growing out of them. I don't care how good the renovations later on in the year turn out, if you allow your customers to play on a disgusting course in the mean time at full price, then that says a lot about the character of the people running the course; I will be leading people away from this course and never returning.
Greens currently is terrible shape.
$25 for a Saturday morning in June isn't a bad rate but the conditions of the greens were awful. Patches of grass poking through, patches of sand, etc. Impossible to read and play a putt. Tee boxes and fairways were in good condition. Pro shop said new greens will be put in by August. I wouldn't bother going back there until then.
Down hill
Uncut fairways
Grass growing in bunkers
Major areas of grass missing on greens
I play this course about 10 years ago and it was fantastic so I decided to go back. The course is laid out beautifully it has some challenging holes but for an average golfer it is a perfect set up. What I found though is a course that is in need of some major TLC. The fairways We're uncut in some areas because the grass is been so long when it was cut had major clippings everywhere. The greens were the biggest disappointment along with the bunkers.
