Needs some TLC but worth the money
Title says it al, could use some TLC, but for the price it was still a good course.
Don’t believe the reviews that they don’t cut the grass. They do, no problems there. Greens were rather excellent. Just the course needs some water. There is also no rakes for the sand traps so you got a lot of feet tracks in it.
3.5/5
A Revisit Worth Revisiting
Everyone who reviews these course do so on a personal basis. I do follow them but sometimes have to judge for myself. Going back to Eastwood I was pessimistic but found the course not as bad as some reviews. Love that the course wasn't crowded as most that I have visited are this time of year. Some tee boxes were in rough shape but I could find a decent area to use. Fairways weren't as bad as some of the more "better reviewed" courses although there were plenty of weeds on most of them. Greens were the best aspect of the course although far from perfect. Still, most putts were unaffected by some dry spots and ran decent. All in all I enjoyed the round and recommend this course for anyone looking to get in a good round at a decent course. It's not Shingle Creek or LPGA but it doesn't carry the price tag either. Depending on what you want from a course you can take this review at your discretion.
Not like it use to be
In a pinch and for golf less than 30 dollars this course will do. It’s falling apart because it’s going to have homes built on it. It does not compare to Stoneybrook and the prices are the same. The staff is great and the friendliest people I talked to all day. Play Ventura or Rio Pinar if the prices are the same.
Course is tough, just keep ball in play
Course has come a long way from past year. Enjoyed my round. I will be back
greens spotty
Greens were spotty in places, but putted at a good pace. Fairways and tees were lacking grass in places, but it is Fla in the winter. Course does not overseed.
Great layout
The course is very challenging, lots of water, lots of doglegs, green are slow and patchy is spots.
The course has a great layout . Pace of play was under 4 hrs very good.. Very windy day but enjoyed the course.
I will play again.
Too Many Twosomes
We played here about 4 years ago and remember coming away with a somewhat bad feeling because of the adverse weather conditions at the time. After reading recent glowing reviews we decided to give it another try and were pleasantly pleased. The fairways were in great shape. The greens roled true and showed hardly any ball marks. And, although the scorecard shows lots of water it was barely a factor on any of the fairways.
The staff were friendly just not quite savy in the ways of patron management. We got there early and were told to follow a twosome that had just gone out. Arriving at the first tee we discovered another twosome was on the green while the one ahead of us was waiting in the fairway. This went on throughout the 18 holes. At the turn we decided to kill some time visiting the facilities only to come out to find 3 twosomes backed up at #10 tee, with ours making 4 and another behind us made 5. The backup was caused by a foursome, two singles and 4 twosomes starting on the back 9 at about the same time. It seems the guys in the pro shop should have made foursomes out of several of the twosomes.
After enjoying our play on the front nine we were sadly told (while waiting in line at #10 tee) that the course is scheduled to close in August of this year. It's a subdivision country club course with another (Stoneybrook East) literally across the street. So this may be the last time we get to play here. It was fun while it lasted.
Eastwood Golf
One of the best layout in Orlando. Staff is very friendly. Never a dull hole;)
Great value and interesting layout
Fourth course I played in Orlando area this week and this is by far the best value so far. Rough in spots butnits February, ten holes with water and an easy four hour round with little waiting. Not crowded and a very solid price for the conditions.
Greenskeeper?
Although the layout is very good the course conditions are terrible. I have not played the course in years but I remembered it being a pretty nice course. The course has not been maintained well. The fairways are weedy, the sand traps are mostly full of dirt and the greens are patchy and slow. Be warned, the reason for the low price is because it is not well maintained
Fast pace with forgiving fairways.
It was cold and very windy but the staff gave very warm service. The greens putted great.
the grass has not awaken yet... greens are decent but fairways have no over seeding not much grass... has to be a deal to be good value for
money
Windy Day
I just played Eastwood Golf course today . . . . It was VERY windy.
The only problem was that the majority of the wind gusts were across the fairway as opposed to from tee to green.
Fairways were cut nicely but the sand traps have a lot of grass in them.
Second time around
This was the second time we have played this course, we are beginning to enjoy the layout more and more. Work is ongoing but the results are becoming visible. Can’t wait to play this course when it has fully recovered. Come and supported the club it’s worth it, great layout no hole the same .
Great layout
So ok, it’s not in the best condition but they are struggling.
The course is such a pretty course, we thought we had booked for Friday Jan 31 but when the lady in the pro shop couldn’t find our booking she very kindly found we had booked Sunday Feb2! She quickly sorted a tee time out and said we could play anyway but I would have to cancel Sunday’s teetime. Off we went to play, ok it’s not great condition, Greens are a little bobbly fairs well a little bare and some weeds. Having said that the course layout is fantastic so pretty, lots of ponds and no two holes are the same. If fact we looked it so much we are keeping the teetime for Sunday and are going back to play again. Come out and support the club it needs your money!
