Playing golf at the end of April and the course was completely on temporary greens and not even a reduced fee for this. Greenkeepers paid no attention to being next to you when taking shots with their engines still going. I can’t believe that at the end of April I’m still playing on temporary greens on every single hole on the course

Nice 9 hole course

Backworth is a really nice 9 holer, a mix of par 3,4, and 5,s. Which were challenging enough for me anyway. There is no clubhouse of so to speak, pay n play which is great, there is Backworth Hall and iits does have toilets and a bar for refreshments afters .

Good course for “social golfers”

3 of us, Seniors, use a range and par 3 course weekly as a social outing, once a month we like to play on full course and we like Backworth for its variety of holes, albeit only 10. Wide fairways with greens protected by bunkers and water provide a good test for our limited abilities as do the length of par 5s. We’ve used it on a number of occasions and have never felt pressured by following players and perfectly happy going around twice for 18 holes. Only downside Mondays very limited catering, drinks from bar or teas, coffee from machine being all that’s available, but we can live with that.

Clear mix up with app

Tee time was booked, confirmed and paid for but on arrival the course was closed- clearly the link between GN and the course is not robust as the course was apparently closed during the morning well before the booking was placed

Autumn Time

Tricky to review this time of year - quite a few waterlogged greens particularly those sheltered from the wind. Take a very long pitch mark fork! Some greens covered with leaves. General condition was good all things considered.

Great little 9 holer

Great little 9 hole course with friendly fairways and not too much danger. Greens are tiny little postage stamps. Great course to see if your approach play is up to scratch
