Awful

For £20 for 9 holes, this course was a shambles. The greens were unplayable. No warning about the state of them. Tee boxes were the worst I have ever seen at a golf course. Bunkers okay.

Greens!

I was not forewarned that all greens were on temporary greens which made the course incredibly short. Had this not been the case I would maybe have given it an extra star. It would be an excellent course to learn to play golf on but that’s the best I can say unfortunately.

Hollow tining really

I have played this corse a couple of times and was extremely disappointed that nobody said that not one green was in play. I didn’t pay my money to put on a fairway!!!!! Come on backworth if you are going to do this please do the following

1) let players know!!

2) reduce the fee

3) At least make the temporary greens decent because they were worse than dreadful. My front lawn is in better condition and that is terrible. I also cannot understand why this is happening in the middle of summer

Disappointed with not playing the normal greens

First time playing the course and there was no mention of having to play winter greens very disappointed as I was expecting to play the normal greens other than that it's a nice little course

Great short 9 hole course

Nice short course with some tricky pins and protected bunkers. Very open so tough to lose balls unless you have a huge hook. Greens and fairways were great despite the warm weather.

My local course

I live really close to Backworth, so as I've gotten into golf it's my defacto place to go. Appreciate that it's smaller so doesn't take ages to play and you can do 9 or 18. Only thing I dislike is how hard it is to get in touch with staff without physically being there. No reply to contact form and never answer phone

Enjoyed the day and the course,, staff where very friendly and helpful which makes a difference.

The only downside on the day was players behind us playing there shots whilst we where still on the fairway or the green

On one occasion 2 balls landed on the 8th green whilst we where still putting with no apologies given

Other than this we had a great round of golf and would book again

Poor up keep

Tee boxes not cut, fairways like rough, bunkers full of pebbles. not worth the price or even half the price I paid (£17 per player). I was a member at this golf club for many years and left due to poor quality and the club mainly focusing on there weddings rather than golf course. Only reason for visit was a fathers day gift for the old man. Highly recommend you stay clear of this course as value for money is no existent get better value at Wallsend. (Can't believe I wrote that)

Terrible staff

Angry staff treat us like criminals for playing slow. Unbelievably aggressive attitudes on the two old ladies

A nine hole gem

A surprising well cared for course that had excellent greens. After heavy morning rain the course obviously drains well. The fairways are wide and the various cuts allows for good lies to enhance your play. Overall a satisfying game without any frustration.

Staffing

Was a bit disappointed when we got there for a 7.32 tee off time there was no staff or club house open to collect our score cards and since we had never done the course before ,we had to rely on club members to help us out
