George Washington Golf Club

This is a fantastic course during the summer and one I’ve enjoyed playing many times. The fairways and greens are always in pristine condition, and the layout provides a good challenge with plenty of trees that keep you thinking about your shots. It’s definitely a course that rewards accuracy and course management.

However, in the winter the course struggles quite a bit. On some days it can be very difficult to play due to the conditions, and when I last played there were winter greens on every hole. Because of the conditions, the pace of play was also extremely slow, which was surprising and unfortunately meant I didn’t finish the round.

That being said, in the summer the course is excellent and always in great shape. It’s an enjoyable and challenging round when the weather is on its side.

Overall, I’d rate it 5 stars in the summer, but around 2 stars in the winter due to the playability and conditions.

While the club deserve a pat on the back for opening the course for its members, with temporary tees and temporary greens along with very muddy conditions, it wasn't worth the green fee for visitors like me. We spent more time trying to find and clean our plugged balls on every hole, rather than actually playing golf.

I think they should have advertised that it was winter greens and that the course was in the state it was in

Course is normally great . I checked the website before booking and everything looked good so I booked it . When we got to the course we were then told that every green was a temporary green and virtually every tee box was a temporary one . Just would have been nice for the website to display this information. Was Defo not worth 20 quid a round .

Could only play 9 all winter greens and course always swamped. Very surprised it was open

I’m new to golf so I am not great at the sport yet but George Washington was a good course to go around.

The Course has built in challenges/difficulties that you’ll learn to overcome, such as Drives that require a controlled slice to be played optimally & Drives that can be fairly narrow so your shot needs to be straight to keep yourself on track for the par.

Only issue I’ve found is the Rough is far more than just Rough but not a massive issue & the Temporary Greens are as catered to as said Roughs

Still an enjoyable Course all in all, especially for the price too

Despite the weather changing, the course played really well. 2 winter greens are in play, one on the front nine and one on the back nine.

The fairways and greens are still in great condition. The staff in the shop are very friendly and helpful. The only negative I have was the driving range, really busy and had to wait for a booth.

The fact this is advertised as a Championship course is a joke.

The course is worth £10 a round max. Don't pay anymore or you are being ripped off!

Go and play a decent course in the area and save yourself the trip here.

Got on early as tee was quiet .. friendly pro in golf shop. Greens poor as just been worked on which was explained prior to round. Drinks in bar expensive .

As soon as I arrived staff greeted me to let me know what was going on. Course was immaculate and no issues on their side. Only thing on the day was 2 golfers in a buggy somehow struggling to keep pace of play and let multiple groups past who were just walking. Apart from this great day of golf would definitely recommend.

Lovely course, great price weather in area was terrible but shielded from wind. Course in great condition, summer droughts had no impact with luscious green grass throughout. Closest to a hole in 1 for me so far too!

The course was in fantastic condition, fairways lush and greens all in peak condition. It’s an enjoyable course to walk and has some testing holes but is balanced with some holes that you can score well on. Highly recommended

Greens were fabulous & worth £22.50. Tee boxes were ‘well watered’. I’ll definitely return at the price on Golf Now
