despite the wide fairways the wind can push you off course Photo submitted by u020472442 on 05/15/2017

Nice course but poor condition
Not played here for a while lake's course is challenging but fair...as long as you avoid the water (not easy for a high handicap 😁) Nicely laid out with a couple of holes that make you think rather than just smash it
Unfortunately the condition wasn't good especially for June. Tees needed work, fairways weren't bad but needed a cut and had long rye grass in places. Greens really poor for June bubbly inconsistent and GUR on 2 or 3 greens unacceptable and no sand in the bunkers
Very friendly club just wish it was in better condition
Unique track
Returned to the lakes at longhurst and had a treat of a day. Was cold and windy which made it more difficult, but the layout and course certainly took our mind of that. Course in nice condition and the greens running nicely. Tees and some areas were dry but considering the weather ok. The guy on desk was very friendly too. Will be back again in a few weeks.
Poor greens
I love the lakes and the Dawson but this is the first time I have played the lakes in over a year and did think the greens were poor. Overall the course is great though and I know greens can be maintained and repaired fairly easily.
Slowest pace of play ever
Walked off after 8 holes after travelling 50 minutes to play and ended up booking another tee time at another course., Never experienced a slower round in my life. Greens were very poor also
Fantastic Day
1st time here and loved it, will be back 100% played the lakes so need to try the other 1 also but loved the lakes and only lost 1 ball hahaha
Dodgy greens
Greens are not in the best of condition and also people just seem to move between holes so we had to wait a couple times. Overall a good course and good challenges.
Real Gem
Played both courses this week and for the time of year both in great condition- excellent value for money and the best combination of two courses l have played and l have travelled all over the uk playing golf. Pro was super friendly as were all golfers and staff . Post round food available photo included
First time playing this course (the lakes). Found it in great condition for the time of year, great value for money and a really friendly welcome in the clubhouse. Would highly recommend playing here and looking forward to my next visit.
Typical winter course
Played here many times before, decent course and always playable in the winter. Nothing special but for the price can’t complain. All greens were on even tho not in the best of conditions. Would happily play again with no problems.
Mick

Course
Great course and fantastic staff really accommodating will defiantly return even in winter
I wish I lived closer
My local club was renovating the greens this week so I was thinking about where to play. None of my friends were free so I was at a loose end. The wife asked me “where’s your favourite place to play?” It wasn’t even a thought, it’s Longhirst. So I decided to travel up there and play the Lakes course. I loved it. Beautiful surroundings, challenging course and I played some decent golf. If I lived closer, I’d 100% be a member. I also used the Toptracer range while I was there. The only downside is that the accuracy of the Toptracer technology was pretty poor. As I was watching the ball land way past the 250 marker, it was registering 222 yards. I’m sure that accuracy will improve but it was pretty pointless technology. With my wedges, I’ll thump a PW 135+ yards but I couldn’t register anything past 116 on the Toptracer, even though I could see them going much further.
The course though is absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to go back.
Very slow
I booked a tee for the lakes course on my own. After playing the first I soon caught up to a four ball playing in a competition. After another hour I was approached by one of the group at the 4th green and was told there were 2 competitions ahead of me and I should jump a few holes ahead to avoid them. The course was full and even this option was not available. I walked off after playing 5 holes in 1 and a half hours!
Hi Trev,
Looking at your booking, you played on a day where there was a morning frost, and greens had not been watered or cut because of that.
Please contact the club and we will send a courtesy round for you.
