Perfect Golf Day Photo submitted by t1457828157 on 05/12/2019
Would definitely play this course again
Tranquil and scenic. The road into the club is fairly narrow and if it was busier could well have added 5-10 minutes to the journey with having to negotiate passing places - however, arrived in good time and tee'd off at the allotted time. Beware to 100ft vertical difference between the car park and the first tee! It was all downhill for a good while after that. Full and true greens so early in the year was unbelievable. Just the very odd bit of bogginess at the lower parts of the course - nothing to complain about. A thoroughly enjoyable day.
A hidden gem
This is a quirky gem of a layout, with no boring holes and really good greens, even after a wet winter. Not easy to get to but definitely worth a trip. As a 'green' golfer it would be nice to see new trees planted and properly protected and mature ones not felled for spurious reasons, but that's an issue at a lot of courses now.
Great course
I played very early so set off before the club and pro shop had opened.. luckily all the tees are very well sign posted as it’s not totally straight forward to get to the next hole.. and I didn’t have anyone to follow for the first 8 holes.. the course has some challenging holes and does make you think your way round.. it also has some good scoring holes so a few good opportunities for some birdies.. the condition considering the rain of late was great. Greens were holding up well.. and the fairways were looked after as you play from a mat most of the time. The only downside was a couple of chaps started on the 8 so jumped in front of me and were very slow.. very slow.. as I was a 1 ball didn’t expect to be let through.. but eventually they did which was kind of them. Would highly recommend this course and I will play again..
Breathtaking… literally
Beautiful course, stunning condition for the time of the year. Greens are pure and quick. Staff and members are super friendly. Unreal value for money with a hot deal tee time and the views are stunning on this course. It is tiring on the front 9 playing uphill but the 12th hole is spectacular, never played a hole like it!
A course you will remember.
Excellent golf club, friendly and helpful lady in pro shop. Course and greens are in superb condition even at this time of year. Extremely quirky and memorable layout with a mountain in the middle of it, and the 12th hole being a decent from the top of the planet ! An electric trolley or light carry are highly recommended, but this is a all adds in to the charm and character of the course. It has some of the best par 3’s you will ever play, and some of the most stunning views you can get. Will definitely return.
A good challenge both golf and cardiovascular
First time playing, made an error booking date and couldn't get through to pro shop to correct, but were very kindly accommodating on the day we arrived.
It's plenty of hills, which make for some spectacular elevation changes off the tee (particularly the 12th). You'll feel it at the end of the round for sure.
Greens and aprons in good condition, sadly a number of pitch marks left by other players but such is life!
A good experience overall would recommend
Great course
Really nice course, ideally need electric trolley or buggy, defo be back with boys
Quirky
First 8 holes are great. All different but then my enjoyment waned through 9, 10, 11 as tees and greens are so close to each other, you're scared to play in case you hit someone. 12 is a great, crazy downhill par 4. Then the course finishes quite nicely. Overall nice course with some great holes, though just too many tees and greens in close proximity for me.
Breathtaking
The course in general and particularly the feature 12th hole was breathtaking. Conditions were excellent. I’d heard good things and had wanted to play here for some time so I’m glad j finally got round to it. Would definitely return but hopefully on a slightly cheaper deal. Some of the members were actually shocked by the price we paid.
Excellent Gem
Cracking course out in the country, although the pro shop was closed the course more than made up for it (make sure you take drinks and snacks). Greens and fairways in excellent condition. Great mixture of risk/reward holes.
Too many holes holes spread apart adding to the walking starting from car park you feel like it never ends sometimes, on what is a short course tee to Green.
Not very enjoyable due to hills and layout but greens good and course well presented.
Guess the course is what it is for the location.
Great day
Exhausting climbing up hill
Survived to tell the tale
Worked out flag colours for front back etc
Great course ,amazing views
Will return
Best greens I've played on.
Brilliant course! Greens immaculate better than greens I've played anywhere including Spain Portugal etc... and somehow maintained in this British weather. Views are great. Just make sure you're ready to walk up some big hills. Will definitely be playing again!!
Challenging + picturesque course off the beaten track
This is a fantastic course that offers so much for 18 holes of golf. The course itself is incredibly challenging with having to to hit up hill, down hill, ball below and above your feet. Some blind tee shots, approaches to narrow greens, dog legs and true undulating greens. Given that we paid £16.99 for hot deal tee time the course was excellent value for money. The course is incredibly hilly and even if you have a trolley is tough to walk so if you're not the fittest definitely consider a buggy. I won't go through every hole but there is so much variety that you will not get bored plus the views at the top of the hills are stunning so take a camera with you! The members were great too and were happy to let us play through so we weren't held up at all. For handicappers 18 or lower this is a great challenge, for higher handicaps this is a tough course so concentrate on positioning off the tee rather than power!
Unbelievable place
I went with a friend who had a present from his wife for fathers day, admittedly the weather was perfect but what a little hidden gem this is, I have played a lot of courses including Spain and this is up there with the best, the view from the 9th and 12th is the best views I’ve seen on a golf course. The course is immaculate so credit to the groundsmen, I couldn’t fault this place. The only issue I had is when I got back to the club house I asked the young chap on reception how much it was to join and he didn’t know! And only 5 buggy’s but I really enjoyed it walking if your local you must give this a go, it’s all I think about getting back up there. I can imagine in winter or bad weather it’s abit if a pig but for me it’s perfect.
good to return
Great to go back after three years course in immaculate condition & greens also, pro & staff friendly & helpful, will return , good value for money.
Great
A great course hidden away in Stockport.
I would definitely recommend a buggy hire as this course is a very big hill climb!!
Some challenging holes all around. Will be back again!
Staff were great and friendly. Practice facilities a little lacking.
