Hidden Gem
For whatever reason we’ve always overlooked this course, played majority of the courses nearby but never here, we’ve been missing out, fantastic course with unreal views over Manchester and the surrounding areas especially from the 11th tee, without spoiling the suprise the 12th is a great hole. We payed £18.99 per person on a hot deal which is an un real price as courses nowhere near as good as this are charging 3 or 4 times that price.
Hidden gem
We arrived at the course with 10 minutes to spare due to loads of road works . The staff was very helpful and pointed us in the direction to the first tee . Spoke to a few members on route to the tee and what a great opening hole driver and off we go . The course was in great condition and the greens fast and true . Only bit of advice if you can get a buggy this is one of the steepest courses I have ever played but the views from the top are amazing. We will be back but hopefully this time with a buggy
Great views, hilly, interesting
Enjoyed my Friday afternoon here. £10.99 was excellent value. The friendly and helpful member of staff in the pro shop was happy to let me tee off early so that I could play on my own in a free slot rather than play with a couple of unknowns who had booked the same tee time as me. The course has a number of memorable holes with considerable changes in elevation both uphill and downhill. I always prefer walking with my trolley but I think many golfers would want to hire a buggy here. I was blowing a bit after some of the steep uphill sections! Playing on my own behind two four balls meant that the last five or six holes took a while. To be fair, I was asked if I wanted to play through by the group in front, but I was in no rush, and it was the group in front of them who seemed to be more responsible for the slow pace of play. I wasn’t very happy with how I played, especially with the putter, but that had nothing to do with the course, which I thought was great.
Hidden gem!
Absolutely fantastic. Played as a 2 ball (12. - 16. Handicapers) and got 18 holes and a buggy for under £50 between us! Bargain! Full buggy paths on every hole and signs for the next tee made it easy to find your way around. Course was in immaculate condition and the greens was slick. Was a 2 ball Infront that didn't let us through but they had booked through golfnow aswell so can't really blame the venue. Will definitely be back.
Pleasure to play
Great course with views of Manchester in the background. Chipped in for a birdie to finish at the 18th. Pleasure to play!
Fantastic value for green fee
4 hcp playing. Course was pleasantly surprising, the green were smooth and fairly fast, fairways good condition and fringe cuts nice. The hole layout is generally different from the ‘normal’ course, fairly extreme elevation on some holes which is interesting to test the shots. £15 green fee as standard…WORTH IT!
What a gem!
We enjoyed our first visit to Mellor very much. The weather was extremely hot and the ground was dry/parched. Greens were running faster than Usain Bolt.
Cleverly laid out (and quite American in feel) we did struggle sometimes to find our way. A course map on the scorecard would be (very) useful and maybe a diagram of the hole at each Tee would also help.
Footpaths between holes and in general were excellent.
Other than those two points this was a wonderful experience - plenty of elevation and definitely some challenging holes, but the views made it all worthwhile.
Was made to feel very welcome in the bar afterwards and the friendly atmosphere was noticeable.
Will certainly return. Thank you.
First time at this characterful course, I will be back for sure.
There are a few hills to contend with and having rained heavily for the previous days the conditions were a little slippy in parts. The course is well laid out making the most of the location to vary fairways up down left right etc…. Spectacular views from the 12th tee and every hole has its own quirk. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and made to feel most welcome by members both round the course and in the clubhouse afterwards for the obligatory post mitten. I’ll be back later in the year when it’s dried out and expect it to be as much fun. Exceptionally well kept course, give it a go.
Great Layout
Played following recent rain, a little damp underfoot but didn’t impact on play. A beautiful layout, great views over Manchester when playing the middle of the course, steep ascent, steeper descent back down to tree lined parkland majority of course. Some lovely par 3s. Greens ran faster than I’m used to but true. Pro shop was shut so left to own devices and made own way to first tee. Pace of play not an issue as course sparsely populated. Well worth a shot and not disheartening for a poor player like myself.
Hidden Gem!
Wow 😯 what a decent track
Drive in entrance very impressive
Obviously quite hilly terrain but excellent test of golf for all abilities!
Friendly welcome and cosy clubhouse with great views…. We’ll be back soon!
Little Gem
Booked to play on a whim and was pleasantly surprised on how good this course was .Don’t get me wrong it’s not the flattest track in the world and other reviews will say the same but I’ve always found that hills flatten out if your playing well and get worse if your not 🤔.Starts off with a stunning elevated par 4 start and all holes upto the 9th are very good .The 9th is a blind par 3 which seems lost really. The twelfth is stunning and from then on the course flattens out with 2 card wrecker par 4s to finish .All greens were fantastic and the overall presentation of the course is top notch will be looking forward to returning. Thanks M&T for a great round of golf.
Ste coxhill
Very good course,
Fast greens and open fairways give forgiveness if slicing a shot,
Would recommend to friends
Hard work!
Front nine quite hilly but enjoyable . Coursecis in good condition. Greens fast
Fridays best golf value
Just a great golf course. Quite hilly - but some stunning views make the climbs worthwhile. Greens were super slick. Fairways good - just a little spongy at the lower levels.
Beautiful course, glacially slow pace of play.
Beautiful course, stunning views, in great condition. Hilly and the greens were rapid which made it pretty tricky combined with the wind.
Front 9, everyone was really friendly, let me play through, 2nd 9 ,got stuck behind an incredibly slow moving members competition which had sapped my will to play by the end of the round with all the waiting. One of them apologised afterwards which was decent of her but someone didn't want to let me through, which all seems pretty petty, especially when they're members. So instead of leaving with that warm, fuzzy feeling, I left thinking that I probably wouldn't go back.
Great course
Great course with challenge but need to be aware of the hills
nothing
fine and up and under walking hills and best greens are all were putting too hard rough green were too good
