Perfect Golf Day Photo submitted by t1457828157 on 05/12/2019
Excellent course
Travelled about an hour to this course on a recommendation, was not disappointed the course is well layed out with incredible views. Good challenging course with some interesting par 3s. Can't wait to play again. Staff helpful and friendly which always helps.
One of the best courses I have played!!
This is an excellent course with some very challenging holes...
Will definitely play this course again and again...
Hilly
Was a great course, very quirky. It’s very hilly, there is a lot of water all a round, ponds & brooks , so it’s handy to have a range finder watch
Great course
Location of Golf club well sign posted, narrow road with passing places dotted along it leads to club after turning of the main road. Nice big carpark and a short walk up to the club house and pro shop. Friendly greating awaited us and smooth checkin. Weather was the only problem with it raining but warm.. Nice outlook from the club house over the 18th green. Short walk up a slight incline to get to the first tee. Fantastic view over the course and surrounding area. Course in great condition and plenty of green keepers on hand attending to the course and doing a great job. Course layout very rewarding and challenging.. Some of the fairways are on a steep slope and can make the course exhausting unless you have a motorised trolley or buggy. Once we had finished cleaned the trolley and shoes on the twin air line we made our way into the clubhouse. Bar area nice and plesent and as most clubs these days, food was available but limited.. tea cake, pork pie or Bakewell tart. Went for the pork pie with a pot of chutney and the bakewell tart plus a packet of crisps, washed down with a drink from the bar.. Food very nice and tas
Very enjoyable day of golf, thanks Mellor & Towncliffe
Wet but welcoming!
Great course even on a VERY wet day. Pro was very welcoming and friendly on arrival. There was a Captains competition on and my party followed 30 mins behind the last group. Never caught them so the pace of play was great. Chatted to the Captains wife at the 13th tee, very friendly and charming...especially appreciated the bottles of Coors she gave our group!
Will be back for sure. One of the best courses and one of the friendliest in this area.
Fantastic
First time I have played this course...will not be the last.....challenging and very picturesque...gorgeous weather helped but certainly one of the best in the northwest. Pro was very friendly, group in front let out 3 bal through too..10/10!
A hidden treasure
An excellent all round course.
Nice wide fairways and good greens, also
a nice mixture of holes.
Good round of golf
Had a good if sometimes strenuous round of golf at Mellor. Well kept course, good greens , a couple of climbs but worth it for the views.
get a buggy
great 'quirky' course. greens fantastic. GET A BUGGY, a very tough walk for the over fifties! the 12th put my knee back 5 years!
Interesting course
Playing well despite recent rains, some greens undergoing work but generally were in very good nick. Lots of variety, some challenging holes. A fair test.
Always fun
I'm a fan of this course. Lovely views. Some great holes. The greens were hard to judge this time. Some had lots of sand on them others none. Greens very soft. Very smooth. Slightly hilly course which is what I like. Well worth a knock away from your home club.
Just a wonderful course
Second time playing this course and loved it , in great condition and has a variety of challenges for any golfer
Fantastic Course with Incredible Views
This course was such an enjoyable day out. The views are amazing and the greens are as good as any I've ever played. It plays way more difficult than the card suggests, but there are plenty of chances to get a good score. The staff were really friendly from the professional (nice coffee machine!) to the bar staff, who served a nice selection of good priced food. I'd recommend this course to anyone.
A hilly parkland course
Firstly the clubhouse is very nice and their is two practice nets although these were slightly broken.
The putting green was very reminiscent of the greens on the course. The greens on the course are quite fast but look to be well kept.
The fairways were in good condition and the rough was likewise
Quite a few holes play steeply uphill and steeply downhill with the latter having quite stunning views across the Peak District.
The last 5 or 6 holes are flat and have many interesting and beautiful water features with a final hole with a tough sloping green.
Overall a lovely, picturesque golf course in the countryside of Cheshire and great value for money
This coarse has great views
This coarse was recommended, so I took the chance to play it, I wasn't disapointed excellent holes greens were in great condition & excellent views, I will be definately going back. It's a must play coarse.
A must play!
Great course. Quiet, inexpensive and stunning scenery. Great conditions around the course and fairways in particular superb.
Tough course first time you play as lots of blind shots you need to learn. Well worth it though. Will def return.
Beautiful
I can't praise this course highly enough. It was in unbelievable condition, looked beautiful, the greens were very fast and true, there was nobody on the course when we started - it was a great morning. The course is definitely challenging - particularly in the 18 mph wind we played in, which meant we became well acquainted with its trees! - but fair - good shots are rewarded, and bad ones punished. There is a great variety of holes as well - the par 3s particularly had something for everyone, ranging from 107 yards to 220. Will definitely be playing this course again!
