Pace of play an issue
The course was in very good condition and my only gripe was, only having a 2ball in front of us, the course was clear up until the tenth, where we hit a massive backlog of players. I rang the pro shop on the 13th to make them aware and asked if players joined the course on the tenth but was told no. When we came back across the road to the 15th, suddenly we were on our own. Having a group on the tee, and two waiting is just not good enough im afraid.
Nice course spoiled by poor tee etiquette
The course is currently in very good summer condition with the only issue being lack of sand in some of the bunkers. However, there is a major issue with people that haven't booked a tee time (or paid a green fee?) sneaking onto the course at the Black Lane public entrance on the 3rd tee which is backing the course up and causing considerable frustration for those of us that have booked and started properly on the 1st. I'm guessing that the club is and will continue to miss out on a lot of revenue until they get the matter under control. We also noticed a couple of lads on the course at the North end pinching golf balls which probably explains why players sometimes can't locate the ball on some holes.
Great views
Great views of surrounding area and the Angel of the North. A bit confusing layout but took a photo of the map and managed fine.
Quirky layout
Played here a few weeks ago and found it to be a challenge as alot of holes have blind shots into greens, but on second visit i was upto speed and enjoyed it every bit as much, played as a lone player and will deffo play again, although it was a warm day its very windy up there
Not sure if bunkers were in the process of being refilled but seemed very little sand in.
Unfortunately got stuck inbetween a society day that didn’t appear to have tee times booked out so was a slow pace of play which you wouldn’t expect for a weekday.
Enjoyable course, different challenges
Definitely worth a visit
Lovely well kept course in the shadow of the Angel of the North. Hats off to the green keepers as it was in immaculate condition. Most holes were pretty straight but the difficulty was levelled by lots of unforgiving trees that flanked most holes. Every person I met on a beautiful May Friday including staff and members on the course were accommodating and super friendly. Well worth a visit and great value for money at £22 on a 11:22 tee time with the GN app. Only slight criticism and it is more feedback than anything is that for a new visitor it was sometimes difficult to navigate to the next hole as the signage could have been a bit more prominent.
Rating from 3 happy makems for a canny Geordie Golf course 9/10
Excellent course
5th time I’ve played here and it’s been brilliant every time I’ve been. The course is in great condition and the greens are very good. Some brutal par 3s that are really long for the average handicapper but that adds to the challenge! All in all a brilliant place and well worth the £20 I paid.
Nice corse with great greens
First time I’ve played ravensworth and have to say I really enjoyed it. Definitely a thinking golfers corse, Greens were also In great condition. Not the easiest of corses with it being quite tight but a good challenge. The guy in the proshop gave us some advice before we started which I thought was nice and very helpful. Looking forward to my next visit
Very slow play!
I was playing as part of a two ball, None of the groups in front would let anybody play through. It was very frustrating having to wait at each tee box.
loved it
great course...greens were excellent and every hole is different which makes it a good challenge.
pace of play was really bad but apart from that I ll be back.
Golf game
Played with a friend yesterday at Ravensworth. The course was in godd condition although the greens had been recently tuned and sanded they were still quick and will only get quicker approaching the summer. This course was excellent value for the money and we will certainly return in the future.
