Poor greens

After being recommended this course by a couple of people that played last year I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately the state of the greens let it down, moss and weeds.

Nice spot but unfortunately lots of people teeing off from 9th

Played 18 holes and course is situated in lovely scenic setting. Back 9 is noticeably better than front nine and people obviously know this as multiple four balls went off from the 9th which slowed play after hole 9.

NONE

I HAD BOOKED A 4 BALL FOR A GROUP OF US WHO GO DOWN TO THE NEWCASTLE AREA.

UNFORTUNATELY, I GOT ILL WITH SHINGLES SO I COULD NOT PLAY.

I APPROACHED THE SECRETARY TO AND SEE IF I COULD GET MY GREEN FEES RE EMBURSED BUT SHE WAS QUITE SHARP SO ASKED IF I COULD GET A BUGGY TO FOLLOW THE CHAPS AROUND BUT WAS TOLD NO YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY £25 FOR THE BUGGY.

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WOULD THE POLICY IS FOR CANCELLATION DUE TO ILLNESS?

WE WILL NOT BE USING THERE GOLF CLUB AGAIN

Lovely Surroundings

First time played Rothbury and the course is a nicely setup parklands course set in lovely surroundings. The only negatives were the greens on the front nine and the bunkers were out of play which is surprising considering the course reopened on Monday from a three month closure. However I would play the course again in the summer.

Cheap and cheerful

Good value for money, some nice holes but beware of flaring golf balls due to course layout! Good greens and friendly members.

Thoroughly enjoyed it

Three of us all had a great winter round of golf. The views were lovely and the course was nice. Most of the summer greens were on and in good condition for the time of year. Some of the tees were very forward and a couple of par 4s were playing as par 3s, which we all felt was fair enough for the time of year and weather leading up to our round. Good course, I’d be happy to go back.

First time

Played this for first time and found the course to be a good layout. Would like to see more trees planted to mark the fairways and suck up surface water. Some matting needed in places on the mucky hills. Winter greens and tee boxes but enjoyed the day and scenery is great. Can't comment on staff as clubhouse shut due to covid. Will return again soon
