Golfer Reviews
3 Ball at Shirland Derbyshire
A lovely testing course which makes you think about every shot. The greens are in good condition the course itself is good considering the hot weather. A good selection of beers etc at the club house car parking and other amenities are very good.
Enjoyable Round, just a bit slow behind a comp.
I rate this course for value for money, greens were good and even paced, tee boxes not so good but given the dry weather I think all courses are struggling currently and the fairways were in better condition than some I’ve played recently. From the 6th hole I waiting on every tee which was very frustrating but the round was still only 4 hours which isn’t bad. I’m hoping this was a one off as I’ve never queued like that before at this course.
Shirland
Great value for money . Greens are in great condition. Not the easiest course to play but if you fancy a challenge definitely recommend it
Friendly staff & a decent 19th hole
Shirland Golf Club
Our first time at Shirland GC. We found the course quite challenging. Paticularly on the back 9. Very hilly. As a first timer, playing with a member would deffinatley help, passing on local knowledge. As being in the correct position on the course is a major +
Shirland
Course was in fairly good condition, very quiet on the day and we still managed to be held up by the lady captain for 11 holes, ruined our day as NO one in front of them! We waited on 11 tees for them and they tried their best to ignore us!
Apart from these extremely slow ladies everything else was fine.
Nice Course
Nice course with good layout. Very good greens even in the dry weather, that are watered manually, fantastic effort from the Greenkeepers. Tee boxes are not the best but you play off a tee peg and it doesn't affect your shots, difficult to keep in good condition when very dry. Nice clubhouse and staff. Lovely quick pace of play in the morning.
Tough course
Greens were fantastic! Fairways very tight lies probably due to hot dry weather as dry grass.
There was balls flying left right and centre as fairways are tight and close to one another.
Tough course must be accurate off tee not as enjoyable as I would of liked but greens were very true and in great condition considering dry weather
Pleasant course close to the M1
Nice course. Challenging par 3s mostly uphill. All the greens were fairly slick. In many years of playing golf I’ve never encountered a tee shot as narrow as the eighth hole. If you’ve never played the course before after you’ve played the 11th hole go back to the 10th tee and you’ll find the 12th tee playing in the opposite direction to the 10th. In short I had an enjoyable day out but for the last few hundred yards of my journey I did wonder where my satnav was taking me.
Enjoyable Round in great surroundings
Course was in really good condition apart from a few patches but most marked up as GUR, weather was kind to us.
A Round at Shirland GC
Excellent. I haven’t played at Shirland for a while, but I thought it was great value and well worth a visit today. Staff and pro shop were very friendly and welcoming. There’s an excellent mix of holes and the greens were in great condition.
Shirland is well worth a round if you’re a society looking for a good value venue and golf course with great facilities - it’s certainly worth a look. The front nine plays harder than the back nine. Overall, a good golf course, friendly staff and good value for money. Thanks
Shirland Golf Course
Course in excellent condition from tee to green. Some challenging holes but a good test of the all round game. First class value at ~ £15 per round if booked on line. £1 cheaper via GN. Would recommend
Golf
7 of us play as our course (Coxmoor) was closed to members.
Very enjoyable day had by all, tee boxes were a little untidy and not looked after very well, the course overall I thought was good alue for money and would definitely play there again. My only gripe was the clubhouse only did card only and no cash, that’s probably just me being old fashioned
