Nice course, lost couple balls due to many many leaves, bit soggy which was expected, greens were good, nice 9 holer and reckon would be a belter in summer
Value for money
Great little course, have played in the summer and it's a really good track. For the time of year and the price you can't knock it. Some interesting holes and would highly recommend
Excellent course
Great course, always in perfect condition. Most of the rough is short so you don’t tend to lose balls in it. A lot of trees which high handicappers like myself can tend to find themselves behind but apart from that there’s not much trouble!
Quite enjoyable
The course was in good condition but could do with more signs directing you to the next tee, we tee'd off at 0700 and pro shop was closed so could not buy refreshments or get hold of a score card.
Tried to buy drinks after the ninth hole as it was a warm day but the pro shop was still closed, if you are playing early make sure you take refreshments with you!
Some nice holes and good views, I would play it again
Excellent 9 holer
We booked this as an 18 hole course, but it turned out to be 9 holes, with 18 Tees. Though some of the front 9 tees were a matter of feet away from the back 9 tees in the same tee box. There were a handful where they differed sufficiently to be considered a different hole to the front 9. There is land available for genuine 18 differing tee boxes. That said we really enjoyed this course, it is a good tester , beautiful layout and scenery. 4x Par 5's, 10x Par 4's, 4x Par 3's Very friendly club, and what seems like a very good focus on developing youngsters. Highly recommended
Challenging at the beginning and end and fair forgiving in the middle. Really enjoyed it today.
Really nice course in great condition
Friendly fourball after lockdown - some great holes and many of the repeat 9 have differing lengths and nuances which, coupled with a decent length makes Whalley so playable.
A bit of width for the stray shot that can bring you back into play easily.
Bunkers had good sand (if being in sand can be good!) and greens, whilst being a little slow on the day that we played, were looking good for the main season.
Great views and an easy walk
A little gem!
Played Whalley Golf Club on a Friday afternoon in early March (winter golf). Considering this February has been the wettest on record (A lot of courses still closed) the course has held up remarkably. Normal greens in play except the 2nd/11th as it’s hidden away and needs protection during the winter with I understand. Also played off matts on the fairway or could move ball into the rough to help preserve the fairways. Again understandable as the fairways during the season are outstanding. Greens are Always in great condition and challenging. The views of Whalley Nab and the Ribble Valley are wonderful.
Small practice ground, a practice putting green and two practice swing bays. The clubhouse is great with fantastic homemade food courtesy of Julia and attentive staff with very friendly members made my time there feel like my home club!
Can’t wait for spring to come so I can experience the course in full bloom. A must for any standard of golfer .
Good challenge!
Pleasant 9-hole course of medium difficulty. Longish 1st two par 4's and then less difficult. Course in good condition with groundsmen on course while we were playing. Booking online with GolfNow will give you extremely good prices at certain times so worth looking.
Nice clubhouse apparently with balcony views. Pro shop there.
Very disappointing!
Played this course for the first time Friday. Picked a midday tee time on a nice sunny day. Couldn't fault the chap in the shop who took us to the first and explained the layout. However despite reading on the website all greens were in play, the second hole was in fact playing a temporary green which was disappointing. The overall condition of the course was a real let down, despite the good weather, the course was soaked, fairways seemed poor and 'rough' riddled with twigs and leaves. Through 18 holes only saw one chap who I assume was a greenkeeper. Overall layout of the course very boring, seems like a large field with 9 holes squeezed on, best hole in my opinion being the 8th. Would not play here again, even in mid summer and would not recommend.
Wonderful course
This is the best 9 hole course I've played. Beautiful views. Some surprising holes which can catch you out. Greens were fast. The only negative thing is that I thought we'd booked 18 holes but in fact it was only 9. There was a ladies competition so we were only allowed to play 9. This was clear on the TeeOffTimes website.
