Wortley in autumn
Fabulous round amid late afternoon sunshine and autumn hues. The pro Richard advised me to play my approaches below the pin as putting down hill on the greens is 3 putt territory. - the 13th and the 18th greens are particularly brutal I missed my par putts by a fraction and the ball ran on and on - I should have listened to the pro!
The only birdie I was likely to get was one of the magnificent peasants that frequent the estate!
Delighted to have got so many pars with 6 being my highest score.
I’ll be back soon!
A stunning countryside location
This was the first time we have played this course and will definitely play again.
It is well maintained and the greens are difficult to read and very challenging.
The course is slightly hilly in places and maybe should have gone with a buggy but enjoyed the walk
The staff were friendly and welcoming
Summer temps
Played this golf course a few times.
This was my first visit this summer. Was really looking forward to going back to a good course. However we was informed on arrival that there would be 3 temps. Which is not ideal in September of a good summer. To our annoyance there was a total of 7 temporary greens. Some a good 70 yards short of the original green.
On the basis of this round. I won’t be rushing back
First visit
Lovely course but the round was spoiled by 6 or 7 holes where the flagstick was not on the green and not even on a temporary green, it was just stuck in the fairway, quite a distance from the green. We were not advised of this before going out to play.
Lush countryside
A very scenic course away from the external influences of traffic and businesses etc.
Numerous grouse and wildlife on the fairways made it very pleasing on the eye.
Wonderful Wortley
A real South Yorkshire gem of a golf course with friendly welcoming staff in the pro shop and bar. The course cleverly uses the natural contours of the land to forge some really interesting golf holes.
Fantastic course , well kept . Pro in the shop really helpful . Will definitely play here again - 10 out of 10 !
GolfNow
GolfNow adds you to other bookings without informing you. We (2 ball) turn up for our tee time which another 2 ball had booked. We were suppose to make up a 4 ball. Slightly awkward as no one expected this
Lovely picturesque course
Wortley is a lovely picturesque course one of nicest in South Yorkshire. A shorter course par 66 but with testing holes some long up hill par 4s. The greens , fairways are in very good condition. Its a pleasure always to play this course.
Chalk and cheese
Quite a while since I have played it and at the right time of the year it is a very nice course
Played recently, first time on the winter greens here, yes I know they are winter greens but they were exceptionally poor as was the layout of them
I don’t mind paying the green fees at all but £40 is way over priced for the current condition of the course compared to others in the area. Disappointing
Lovely course
Unfortunately the day we played was probably the wettest of the year! We played 11 holes and then had to give up as the weather was just too bad. However, I look forward to going back; really nice course, well laid out and in great condition (even with a month of rain landing on it). Couldn't really get much of an idea of the pace as we were the only people daft enough to play on such a day and we didn't stick around to try out the clubhouse but it looked nice. Staff were very helpful when my playing partner's bank card wouldn't work and let him pay for an umbrella after we finished our (curtailed) round. Will definitely go back.
Cracking Little Course
Played course during the height of Summer, course was in superb condition and the greens were lightning fast. Some great feature holes particularly the par 3’s. We played as a fourball and got round in less than 3 hours.
Called in clubhouse afterwards for a quick pint, greeted by friendly, welcoming staff.
Would definitely recommend, great hot deal.
