About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

Solid Value
I ended up coming here because it was 15 degrees cooler here than further inland in the East Bay. The course was in pretty good shape. The biggest issue is the bumpy greens from people not fixing their ballmarks. The pace of play was not speedy, but it definitely wasn’t terrible for a Saturday. For those if you who have never been here, it is hilly and you will rarely have a flat lie. Plus, the layout is a bit weird with a road running through several holes and a crazy par 6 to finish the round. But overall it doesn’t penalize miss-hits too badly and there is an option to put up a good score with some shorter holes.

Course is in good shape
The greens were well watered and lush, but not as fast as usual. With the drought upon us, management has let the appropriate areas go brown without affecting playability. Good job!
On a Thursday mid-morning, we got around in 4 hours.

Watered wayyy too much
Fresh cut grass abs overwatering makes for a not so fun round. Greens were in good condition, fairways were not. If you get a deal, play it in the afternoon when all their excess watering has dried out

I Love This Golf Course
This municipal is consistently one of the most diverse courses around, in terms of gender, age, and race, and the vibe couldn't be any sweeter. I hadn't played there in over five years and was really happy about the condition which seemed better than my last visit. The holes are quirky and individual, with views in all directions of the Bay Area as you chug up and down hills and valleys. Forgotten how much I loved the place.
