About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

Big elevation changes, average conditions
If you want big elevation changes in a golf course, this is it. The holes are not long from the white tees but the elevation changes could make a short par 4 hole into a monstrous one. It is an interesting layout and worthwhile playing at least once. This course owns the only par 6 hole west of the Mississippi and makes a fun finishing hole. If you hit your drive right and get a good down hill roll, you could end up with a 400+ yard drive. A word of caution when driving in and out of this golf course because the road goes thru a couple of fairways and you could be susceptible to golf balls hitting your car if you happen to be on that road while someone is teeing off.

Over Priced
Course is not in very good condition, no marshals monitoring pace of play . Round took 5.5 hrs mainly due to too many inexperienced players. I’d stay away from this course .

Great round of golf with friends.
Coming from the peninsula we always love playing Chabot. This time the greens were in fantastic shape and super fast. Very challenging but fair. Can't wait to come back. Also, staff dealing with Covid and keeping everyone safe were over the top helpful. Thanks for what was a great day.

Wow
Visiting friends in the bay and we booked a quick tee time. Never played the course so didn’t know what to expect. Had to push back tee time and was able to with ease. For it being January the course was in the great shape and it was a blast. Every hole makes you think (which I love) and was a blast to play. 100% would play again!!

Car break ins
we returned to the parking lot only to find at least 6 cars were broken into. There was glass all over the parking lot. My buddy had his back passenger window bashed in. According to course staff, this happens all the time. The hired security guard was nowhere to be found. Not worth the risk of car break ins. Gimmick course anyways

Good course that needs better care
Lake Chabot is a good course with many challenging and interesting holes.
The key word is hills.
It is very hilly.
The pace of play was very slow and we did not see any marshalls.
The fairways are not in good condition.

Amazing course that is great bang for your buck. It was a little wet today but great drainage on fairways and throughout the course as a whole. Pace of play was spectacular and the 18th was just crazy! 600+ yard par 6! Such a fun place that I will definitely enjoy again in the near future

Golf course or park?
My expectation for lake chabot was not that high as the price point was quite low for the area. Upon receiving I was appalled at the course conditions. The fairways were pretty much mud, the tee boxes were beat to a pulp and very uneven, and the greens were like a pinball machine. I mean seriously I was so shocked they charge 60 bucks for this course, it is like someone just transformed a park into a golf course and did not maintain at all. There are some neat holes on the course with elevation changes that adds a bit of fun, but overall will never go back here again.

Can someone install a camera
I have seen sooo many vehicles get broken into here, I wont plat anymore until they figure it out. Crooks will drive in break into 8 cars and vansih. somehow nobody see this. Happens weekly.
Please take an uber here. or leave you car open with nothing in it.

1st time play
Played lake Chabot 1st time:
1) Course sits on a beautiful Oakland hill area, with magnificent view. However, the course condition is very bad, whether it's tee box, fairway, or the green. With serious management, it could be a prime golf course
2) Cart management is also an issue as we have to wait for our cart despite we did reserve the cart.
We were lucky to play on week day, I think the pace of play could be bad if weekend.

Chabot
Lines at pro shop were way too long. The course is not very well maintained, but you get what you pay for. It is more a "gimmicky" course than anything else. Fun for once to see the weird holes, but having every ball roll backwards like 100 yards on the fairway gets old fast.
