About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

The Tee Boxes are in terrible shape and fairways are burnt up. The greens were in pretty good shape. A little soft and bumpy but compared to the tee boxes and fairways the were good. Beautiful views on the back nine and as always the Par 6 18th is always fun.

Great course to play
Played their for the first time, great place to play challenging course but I’m just a beginner so I had a blast

Elevation changes galore, small greens make club selection tough,. Views of the bay are incredible at times!

Chabot
This course is super fun to play, unfortunately the condition of the course is what I would call ratty. And the condition of the course does not match the cost. The views however are spectacular. All in all it was ok

Not worth 34$
Greens were bumpy, no one fixes their ball marks.
Fairways brown, looks like add the courses need
watering and better greens, I`ve played this course many times and this is about as bad as it gets. Afraid to "hit
down" thru the ball, as you might break your wrist. Will be back in Oct maybe after a few rains. Or wait until next April.

Miscommunication between pro shop and golfnow
Pro shop said they don't have the booking from golfnow when I checked in. I have to find my reservation on cell phone to fix the problem. Hope golfnow will improve in the future.

OK
This course is EXTREMELY hilly... I agree with some other reviews ...don't even CONSIDER walking it! Easy to lost balls in VERY tall weeds... and very thorny! However, I had an enjoyable day... I would rate the course just "OK"... needs lots of new sod on tee boxes and around greens...

We do have plenty of golfers who enjoy the up-and-down nature of the walk for exercise during their round. We also offer golf cart rental to those who prefer. We apologize that our course conditions didn't meet your expectations. The greens keeper crew has been working tirelessly to maintain the golf course prior-to, during, and after the temporary closure. Since we have been reopened, we have been tackling as many on-course projects as possible and be assured the ones you have noted are being taken care of now or are next on the priority list. Great course, great views, but greens need work
Played today and the course was in beautiful conditions and the views were amazing as usual. The greens however were in really bad shape. So many divots that made it possible to putt with any confidence.

Somewhat difficult and challenging due to steep hills
DO NOT Attempt to walk this course... it would be BRUTAL! It has VERY steep hills and some long walks between a couple of holes. The greens were in excellent shape, but the tee boxes were in poor shape. The entire course could use better send in the very few sand traps and much more watering. All in all, it was a nice outing, but I wouldn't rush back...

Security
We had a nice round of golf, beautiful weather. However when we returned to the parking lot, the windows were smashed on 3 vehicles including one belonging to my gold partner. There should be better security for your guests.

We are in contact with the Oakland Police Department, have signs posted around the property warning of precautions to take with parking vehicles, and staff who patrol the parking lot throughout the day. Pretty good value
The course conditions have improved a little over the years. The driving range is way better than before! No amenities due to the pandemic. Play here if if you like scenic views and lots of hilly uneven lies.
