Lake Chabot Golf Course - The 18 Hole Course
About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

Golfer Reviews
The greens were fantastic
After playing some other courses in the last few weeks, I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful condition of the greens. The rest of the course was in it's usual good condition, though the blue tee areas were in bad condition.
Nice Course, Very Different, Hills and Tress Galore
Overall, Had a good day out. It was very busy on a Saturday. We had a 3 some, and got paired with a single. Hate that, but the guy was awesome, so it worked out. As, for the course, if its your first time there dont expect a good score. Its a fun spot to golf, but more like golfing on a mountain. The par six 18th is fun, I birdied, but that hill is like golfing down a mountain side, and if you can get that hill right, it will roll all the way down. I recommend that Carlottas Cafe on the course before the par 3, It was the best hot dog of my life. Staff was friendly, and a fun place to play overall. Also beware when you drive your car the clubhouse, the road goes through about 6 holes, watch for people hitting and drive fast lol.
Great layout, one of my favorite courses
Once the five-some ahead of us waived us thru on the second hole, the two of us zoomed thru the course in just under 3 hours. The greens are in excellent condition, the fairways are spotty in a few places, but with the drought conditions, expected.
A picturesque course
Very impressed with the friendly staff, especially Mike Clewis and the folks in the pro shop. Their enthusiasm about their workplace was catching. It convinced me I will be returning here with my golf buddies soon.
Great Course
With the water shortage in California, the Course is in considerably in great shape. Nice to take friends to experience the mammoth 18th hole! the water shortage in California, the Course is in considerably great shape.
pace of play/staff friendliness
We found and signed up for an amazing online rate ($29 per player w/cart). However we were not told it was because we would be following a very slow tournament. When we reach the massive log jam at the third tee box, the marshall, realizing their error, told us to cut over to the 13th tee, ahead of the tournament, because the back 9 was wide open. Had they not suggested that, we would have been stuck with a 6 hour round. Thanks for looking out for us and letting us enjoy our day!
Looks Steeper Than It Plays
Played for the first time. At first when driving through the course looked to be steep. When we got out it was not as steep as it looked. The par 6 18th hole was a great way to end the day. Will play this again.
A hidden gem in the Oakland Hills
The course is fun and challenging. The views of the bay area are spectacular. The pace of play is usually good. The only par 6 that I know of in the bay area.
Driving range is 6 iron and lower, so you can't practice with driver. There are brown patches with the drought, but enough green to keep people happy.
Lots of deer and turkeys to enjoy...
Great day at Lake Chabot course
Played with my wife and son Wednesday afternoon. Tee'd off at 2:20 and in the car at 6:15. Course is in good condition. Some obvious no watering spots due to drought but they were no in field of play.
Pretty good experience.
Staff is very friendly (reservation person, starter, food staff). . Course was in pretty good condition. Pace of play was lacking on the Friday I played. Would visit again.
Player friendly
Have a nice day shooting around of golf with good friends I suggested to anyone
Great round of golf
Played Lake Chabot for the third time yesterday. It was a week day (Monday), at about noon. The weather was spectacular...for the Bay area. 70s, and low humidity, with brilliant sun. I got an excellent rate through GolfNow. I was hooked up with three very nice men, which made the round even more enjoyable. We finished the round in less than 4 hours. Greens, fairways and tees were in good condition. The course is very hilly (a major understatement). I've walked it, and walking is quite an effort. There are several memorable holes. A par 3 with a MAJOR drop to the green. Had to drop down three clubs to avoid going long. And the par 6 18th is unique. All downhill (until 100 yds from the green, which is elevated), and visually stunning.
I didn't order any food, so I can't comment myself, but one of our group did, and said the food was very good.
I will certainly play there again.
Course conditions had some issues
Did you know we are in a drought? This course definitely shows signs of a drought on every hole. The yellow fairways had made it very hard to find your tee shot. Hitting your second shot off of 'hard pan' was not enjoyable. The greens were in good shape, but golfers who don't fix their divots should know better. The front 9 holes were typically slow, backed up on 5 of the 9 holes with no Marshall to be found!
nice small place
Nice little pitch and putt in the Oakland Hills. This course is a walk only course and although push carts are allowed, I would not recomend due to the hilly make up of this course. Leave your driver at home as it will not be needed here.
Great weather, great course!
Always a fun course and a nice get away from the 95 degree weather. As soon as you cross the tunnel it's 10-15 degrees cooler. Course is always is great shape, green were in fantastic shape! Staff is always very friendly. Even though the course was crowded we were able to scoot around in 4 hours. We tee'd off at 11:00 AM and finished around 3. We were able to replay for just 10 dollars!! Can't beat that, what a great day at Lake Chabot!
Fun course for the price
Long elevated holes, with some fun par 3 holes too. Most fairways are wide open so you can grip it and rip it. If you like playing long holes with elevation changes, you will like Lake Chabot.
Not Worth It
Not worth drive, money, or time. This course is why public courses get a bad reputation. Sending out singles, twosomes, and late golfers on a Saturday does not work! And why are there golf Marshalls??
First and Last
This was the first and will be the last time I play here. I could not get a cart until fifteen minutes before tee time even though I checked in an hour early. The group in front of my group was late and they were allowed to tee off ahead of us. They were awful players with poor golf etiquette. While they held up play on most holes, the group behind us would hit up on us? Why do courses have Marshalls who drive around and do nothing. By the 17th hole, groups were stacked 4 deep. Really?
Great 9 hole executive
Having trouble with your short game or 2nd shot on a par 4? This is a great place to practice these skills. For the money it's really worth it. Makes for a great hike, no electric vehicles allowed. The course is in great shape, well maintained along with fresh air and great views of the bay..
