Rancho Solano Golf Course
About
Rancho Solano Golf Course sits midway between San Francisco and Sacramento, a location that makes it easily accessible from all the cities in the Bay Area. The course sprawls across hilly terrain, providing the layout with elevated tees and dramatically undulating greens. It is a tough course to walk but it's possible. Sparkling lakes dot the hills, coming into play on a few holes. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The expansive greens offer some room for error but pin placement is still important. The first three holes on the back nine are some of Rancho Solano Golf Course's most challenging, especially the par-4 11th hole. Club selection is the key to this hole or you might lose your ball to the lake and even once you do seemingly reach safety, there are still bunkers backing the large green.

Good Value
My wife and I played Rancho Solano and really enjoyed it. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the member couple we played with were also fun. Course is a good, challenging layout, with some great views. Only negative was pace of play, which was definitely on the slow side.
Always Good
Course conditions were really good. Tee boxes and greens we’ll maintained. You can see how nice the fairway grass is driving into the facility. Pace of play was good for a Sunday afternoon. Play here about once a month and it never disappoints.
Ran into the cart girl three times. That was a plus too.
Can’t wait til the next round.
Great value
Hands down one of the best courses in the bay area you can play for the money. Everything was in great shapee, even the bunkers. The only down side is the amount of play it gets. It was a Saturday afternoon, but it is still unacceptable for a round to last over 5 hrs.
Best course in Fairfield!
Been playing here since I was about 14-15 years old. I’m in my late 20s now. And it’s always been my favorite course! The course at this moment is very well taken care of. Props to the staff and management! Can’t wait to one day take my kids here.
Course is in Excellent Shape
This course is in amazing shape. They have their own well water so the grass is green even during a drought. Tee boxes to greens were excellent. The greens are massive with a decent amount of slope. They really kicked my butt. But everything was great outside of pace of play. The course plays so slow. People walking (and it's a tough walk). I definitely recommend getting out to this course.
Slow Play
5+ hr round.. marshal very helpful but too bad 13 hole late
One of the Beat Public Golf Corses in CA is Rancho Solano in Fairfield.
Rancho Solano is always in top shape in every regard. Tees, fairways and greens are kept in near private. luv condition. The layout is challenging but fun for most every level of player. Do yourself a favor and take a ride up to Fairfield for a real treat.
Really big greens
The course is beautiful but you really need to know the greens because they are so big and have many levels on most of them. My only complaint was the customer service. The kid working the pro shop was disrespectful and wrong about my tee time..
Road Trip
75 minute drive from SR. Nice lay out. Enjoyed that each hole was different. Course is in great shape tee to green. The greens were tricky, Large, so hit on right level. Course plays fair, not too long. A few holes that you need to hit shorter clubs off tee with middle irons. Pace of play was great. 3 hours 45 minutes, went off just before 2. Appreciate that they let us sneak off a few minutes early because there was a gap. Had a great round especially since visiting for first time. We’ll be back. Also have played Paradise which I enjoy but this is a notch up.
Pace of play problem
It was a perfect day, the course was in fine condition, everything looked good. We teed off at 11, about 15 minutes late due (we were told) to a tournament that had started at 8. By 2 pm we had just reached the turn -- 3 hours to play 9 holes. 2 of our foursome quit, we joined with a threesome behind us, and two of them quit after 12. We finally finished at 5 pm -- a six-hour round. A great shame as everything else was perfect! Several marcshalls came around, apologising for the slow play.
Enjoy Rancho
Course was in pretty good shape. Maybe due to the heat, the greens were much Slower than usual.very disappointing since that's why I played the course.
Overall, I enjoyed the round and would recommend it.
