About
The Championship 18 hole course and driving range contains 140 acres adjacent to Salinas Municipal Airport. The course is a par 72 with a Black Tee 71.9 rating, a Blue Tee 70.7 rating, a White Tee 69.4 rating, a Red Tee 69 rating and a Gold Tee 65.4 rating. In 1998 Golf Course Architect Steve Halsey, of Hlsey Darary Golf in La Mesa California redesigned the course for a complete renovation. Mr. Halsey is an accomplished California Golf Course Architect having provided architectural design for the following golf courses: The River Course at Alisal, Solvang; Coronado Municipal Golf Course; Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course; Salinas Golf & Country Club; Palo Alto Golf Course; Modesto Municipal Golf Course and El Segundo Golf Course.

Fun Day
Had a nice round of golf at Fairways... Course was in good shape. Not too crowded. Paired up with a couple of guys from San Jose. Friendly round. All in all a good day.
Great Deal
It was a great deal for the price. This course can be a difficult back 9 in the afternoon when the wind picks up. Greens were in pretty good shape.

Fairways
Best course for the money and the maintenance crew is Always working to keep the course in tip top shape. For a public course that gets a ton of play, you can't beat the price.

Straightforward golf.
Reasonable greens. Wide fairways. Minimal bunkering. Decent driving range. And very affordable. Winds can be 25 plus mpg. No surprises on this 1960's era municipal design. Fun not losing balls and seeing how well I can hit my driver when not feeling cramped.
Nice course in good condition
Had a very pleasant round. Only negative was the bunkers. More dirt than sand.
Good Value in Salinas
Pretty wide open and forgiving course for beginners and intermediate golfers. They have a nice practice area and good food at the clubhouse. It seems to be a nice hangout for some of the local people which makes for a fun environment. Salinas does get a little windy in the afternoon so if that bothers your game, play earlier in the day.

Great GolfNow price. Played this course many times before. Better to play this course in he morning as the winds kick up in the afternoon.
Good value
I hadn't played this course in over 20 years, but read the earlier reviews and got a good price through Golfnow.
The course is pretty forgiving, but playing in the afternoon, the wind picked up and made the holes going into the wind quite challenging. The course was in very good shape, especially the greens.
The staff was friendly. We didn't eat in the clubhouse, so can't comment on that. We had the added excitement of seeing a couple of private jets take off from the airport next to the course.
I would definitely play here again.

The course was in great shape, and even on a filled-up Sunday, the pace of play was pretty good.
Good value for the money
It was clean and decent place to play. It has this feel like you are playing in a park more but overall this place was nice.

The course and greens were in good shape. We had a great day of golf.
Great Bargain Course!
This was my first time experiencing Salinas Fairways. For the price I paid, I was expecting a mediocre course. I was wrong once I arrived at the course. The course was in great condition. The fairways were lush for a muni course. And, the greens were fast and true. The difficulty of the course was challenging at times; but also fun. The staff was very friendly and the facility was clean and in good condition. For the price I paid to play this course, it was a great bargain. I will surely go back and play this course more often in the future.

Course is extremely well maintained for such a busy course. It is good to see a public course so well supported by the public. Fairly easy track. Wide open fairways, fair greens. Looking forward to playing there again.
