River View Golf Course
About
Situated within the Santa Ana Riverbed, River View Golf Course is conveniently located just minutes from Disneyland, Anaheim, and Long Beach. The course's design intertwines with the river, providing challenging hazards on several holes. The narrow layout also features elevated greens that rarely offer a flat lie and are fiercely guarded by sand. Accuracy is a necessity throughout this golf course. Although it offers a fair amount of challenges, there is also ample room off the tees that makes the course more accessible for beginners. River View G.C. is also popular for its practice facilities, which include a driving range with targets and the county's largest putting course. While the other facilities may be modest, River View offers an affordable game that is one of Orange County's best values.

Just an ugly course
This course was weird. The river running down the middle was mostly empty and the bridges crossing them looked like they were build by someone’s uncle. You are packed in so tight to other holes that we almost got hit be at least 3 bad shots from other groups. Then there are some holes with no fairway. None. Just a steep hill that’s rock hard and
River Bed Has Taken Over
OK, so if you’ve played this course, you know and have excepted that you’re going to Cris cross the river bed. However, due to the historic rainfall in California, the size of this riverbed and leftover sand and sediment has increased by about 50% in width. So it means holes number 13 and 15. For example have little to no fairway. In fact I think whole number 13 is now part three because there’s zero fairway left of course the golf course does not tell you this or offer any discount to their rates even though a substantial portion of the golf course that tracks along, the riverbed has been taken away.
Very slow play
Usually like playing this track, it’s quirky but fun, but place of play was super slow. Need to speed things up and maybe space the groups more, especially since so much construction is going on
This course has a bad design on top of bad conditions.
If this place was maintained to high levels it could be a fun and unique course. But unfortunately it is terribly maintained. Good and well thought out shots end up stuck in deep rough that hides the ball. Rough around greens make chip shots not playable. If you go for the hole, the greens are small. Overall a terrible course that doesn't make any sense. It would just be better off as a park/nature reserve.
Temporarily 9 holes only
Due to the recent rain, the 10th~ 18th holes were unavailable.
However, it was a fun course with very well maintained greens.
True River but No View
When booking, there was nothing in my reservation that said it was for 9 Holes. When I thought I was getting a deal, I was actually getting ripped off.
Full 18 holes is normally nice at Riverview. But 9 holes that were made up on the fly and No Card or Cart to tell you the Layout or Distances, was truly disappointing.
Not sure what’s going on when you have a course designed around a river, that you can’t access the full course because of the river? Makes no sense. That’s when the course is supposed to be at its Best. Isn’t it?
Great Value
For the money, especially in this area, the cost can't be beat.
Unless you’re just starting to play, don’t wast your money
Tee time ended up being on a modified nine, for a few bucks off, and paid full price for bucket on in managed range. Weather has been crappy, so to maintain must be tough but players should be warned and/or appropriately discounted.
Horrible Layout
I read the course description and looked at the photos and thought it would be a great spot to golf. It has to be the oddest layout of a course I have seen. It was definitely re-purposed from something else. The elevated holes are ridiculous. It felt like a 12 year old created this course on a video game simulator. In addition, there were large sticks and debris all over the course. It was challenging in all the wrong ways.
Rainy day
Heads up it becomes a 9 hole course with 2 par 4s and 7 par 3s when it rains. Still fun
Disappointing
With no warnings at all, or any refund option I played the modified 9, which were in marked and seemingly thrown together. This is fine, with a little heads up. Got a new driver, and had a not a single hole to try it out on.
This was a bummer.
Improperly represented, waste of money
I booked a hot deal tee time for what showed in golf now as a full 18 holes with standard conditions. I showed up and they informed me that only 9 holes were open, they were a highly modified 9, and that it would be a pain to get me in the lineup again to play through 9 again to make my 18 holes. The conditions were soaking wet, 9 holes were closed, the 9 that were open were modified, and I feel like I was ripped off by a course that was not represented properly on golfnow.
