River View Golf Course
About
Situated within the Santa Ana Riverbed, River View Golf Course is conveniently located just minutes from Disneyland, Anaheim, and Long Beach. The course's design intertwines with the river, providing challenging hazards on several holes. The narrow layout also features elevated greens that rarely offer a flat lie and are fiercely guarded by sand. Accuracy is a necessity throughout this golf course. Although it offers a fair amount of challenges, there is also ample room off the tees that makes the course more accessible for beginners. River View G.C. is also popular for its practice facilities, which include a driving range with targets and the county's largest putting course. While the other facilities may be modest, River View offers an affordable game that is one of Orange County's best values.

Eh not terrible
Pace was on the slow side. Fairways were eh, greens were not bad. The tees were trashed. Tough course. Probably won't be back anytime soon.
Slow pace of play
The course was in good shape and there was some challenging holes. The biggest problem is that some the greens and tee boxes were on top of each other and the pace of play was painful. Played on a weekday and it took over 5 hours to play 18 holes with cart.
Greens in very good shape. Tight course. Must keep it in play.
Layout Is Interesting but Dangerous
This was a interesting course.. It short and there are a few driveable par 4s if you know where to hit and have the distance… It snakes it’s way around and through the dry river pretty well… That makes it challenging enough to try to keep out of or play out of the sand hazards… If I was to give advice on how to play around here, make sure you value hitting the ball where you aim over shot shape… That doesn’t mean always hit it straight, that means if you hit a draw regularly… Make sure you account for your draw or fade when hitting toward the dry river bed… If you play it where it lies then just expect to look a stroke just getting out of the sand…
Now on to why it’s dangerous… The tee boxes are way too close to the greens… There are golfers who don’t know there shot shape and will be constantly hitting hitting into you if the tee box is close enough to the green… It happen more than just a few times during our round… The protection is abysmal so you better either take cover when it’s not your turn or hit it fast when it is…
Either way a bad round of golf is better than a great day at work… Have fun…
Wasn't worth the drive.
Drove down from San Gabriel area with no serious expectations. Staff is nice and friendly, decent hit range. Course layout is very odd. Carts have a speed limiter, which is understandable when going down hills. But, normal driving, it shouldn't slow you to a crawl then all of the sudden speed you up. GPS kept throwing messages on every hole warning you about something. Pace of play was slow. Had to wait on the majority of holes.. Being in a drought has helped the condition of this course. I could have driven 5 mile to play something similar. Wasn't worth the drive.
Wild West layout
I’ve never been more afraid to play in my life… balls flying through trees. Greens way too close to tee boxes that are completely blind. I saw 3 people almost get nailed without a fore call.
It’s beginners prices, but an advanced course. Beware if you go you will definitely have a few close calls.
Dandy track
This course has made the most of the geography. Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. I would recommend being accompanied by someone who knows the course but that is true at most courses. It’s a little tight between some tees and greens so be aware of other golfers.
All in all I really enjoyed my round.
Solid.
Solid course with a funky layout, but good conditions. Greens were super soft, but pure.
Just an odd course layout.
So I didn’t realize I had played this course years ago and now I remember why I had only played it one other time. Firstly the greens were pure and very well kept, fairways decent, bunkers need work and some sand. The layout is nuts and if you don’t hit your shots, prepare for a frustrating day. No room to miss!! Barely went right on a par 3 to steer clear of houses left, and ended up down a 50ft ravine! That being said if you want a challenge for your game it’s not a bad track. If you tend to leak shots right and can’t draw the ball….I’d probably pick a diff course.
