River View Golf Course
About
Situated within the Santa Ana Riverbed, River View Golf Course is conveniently located just minutes from Disneyland, Anaheim, and Long Beach. The course's design intertwines with the river, providing challenging hazards on several holes. The narrow layout also features elevated greens that rarely offer a flat lie and are fiercely guarded by sand. Accuracy is a necessity throughout this golf course. Although it offers a fair amount of challenges, there is also ample room off the tees that makes the course more accessible for beginners. River View G.C. is also popular for its practice facilities, which include a driving range with targets and the county's largest putting course. While the other facilities may be modest, River View offers an affordable game that is one of Orange County's best values.

friendly
anyone know what i mean?
there used to be courses in SoCal that felt friendly, staff was nice. wasn't quite "Cheers" but they seemed happy to see you again.
that's what Riverview feels like to me...
Starting to enjoy this course
The course was a bit wonky and challenging when I first played there a couple months ago. After my third round here I'm starting to enjoy it.
The course layout is pretty unique with narrow fairways and multiple "creek" crossings. Lots of elevation changes that require good course management.
Pace of play was a bit lacking today for a Friday afternoon - got stuck behind a slow foursome (they should be played white or red tees and not blue) for a 4-4.5hr round.
Course conditions is solid for the price you pay, aside from a few spongy greens that made putting tricky.
Looks could be deceiving
The photos on the app do not compare with the actual course. The first 3 whole were nice with a green fairway. Then you get to hole 4 and 5 and the conditions drop drastically. Obviously being in California I expected the “river” to be dry due to drought reasons, but there’s sand almost everywhere. Some of the holes were nice, but most were just underwhelming. Another thing that really upset me was that upon receiving my cart it was still rather wet with water/bleach they use to clean and sanitize the carts. My $75 dollar polo was ruined and it made my overall experience rather sour.
Challenging Course, Worth A Shot, Literally
Played my first round at Riverview and here's my feedback:
- No one staffing the first tee to make sure groups start on time. (10:09 am pair tee'd off at 10:25 am)
- First three holes took an hour as it was backed up and then it flowed as we finished 18 holes in 4 hours and 20 minutes
- Narrow fairways and don't try to be a hero launching over the riverbed, you won't make it.
- Greens and rough/fringe are in great shape
- Plenty of off roading in the golf cart as some of the cart path is unpaved, under bridges, etc.
- Locals (homeless) walking the course, using the restroom, etc.
- Overall, an average day on the links, enjoyed it, but will probably find somewhere else to play midweek
unique layout
Fair value, unique layout with challenging crossing of the river several times.
Challenging
The practice greens are the best I've experienced. The course is fun and challenging. Not alot of people know how fun it is
Nice & challenging course
Price is good
Staff is friendly
Thanks
Mother's day
It was a calm playing time. With not too many people on the course because it was mother's day. It's usually not crowded and players to close behind each other but in Mother's day it was perfect.
Great Go-To Course
Incredible value, decent conditions, and decent layout. Excited to go back.
Fun and challenging
Greens were in good to excellent shape. Fairways have some rough patches but still extremely playable. Pace was excellent even though twosome in front took 4 shots every tee shot and approach. The course layout is challenging without being brutal or especially long. Par 3’s have good variety of shots and greens need to be targeted. Par 4’s & 5’s force you to think throughout the hole and plan where is best lay up or miss.
Good Course, slower pace!
Course was pretty nice overall, the back 9 greens were a little rough as far as upkeep went, but overall fun time here. The staff was great, but the players that day had some bad pace, not to mention we had a group behind who wanted to play through us, but there was 3 groups holding us up. Overall good buy, a little pricey for the public course but good play.
