Lightning
I've been playing this course for 10 years plus, I got to say this time the greens were lightning fast and very smooth and probably the best shape I've ever seen them. The fairways and tea boxes were in very good condition,.The only drawback was when we got to the ninth tee there were three golf carts in the fairway and six players and we have no idea where they came from. That's really the only thing this course is lacking is a Marshall to keep up the pace.
Challenge for missed fairways
This course was in very good condition with the greens holding well placed wedges and rolling smooth. The rough was a little longer than normal and made for a more challenging approach as it should for a missed fairway. Overall layout is good and resulted in a great round of golf.
played in Augusta not AT
super friendly staff, pace was fantastic, finished in less than 3.5 hours. Will never get a chance to play the National but it was nice to play a course so close. if I am ever near Augusta again this course is worth a return visit.
nice course
This course was real nice. Holes were a challenge and the play moved right along. Would play this course again. Only thing I wish they had was a beverage cart.
Overall satisfactory.
Played this course several times but this time is the best to me.Overall course conditions were satisfactory, especially green was well maintained.
Forest Hills
I love this golf course. Its fair and not that difficult tee to green but you better hit the green or you'll have a challenge of some sort. It feels like a golf course out of The Great Gatsby!
Good Day
My son played this course in a tournament last year and I believe that it was in better shape today than it was last year. We played from the black tees around 6800 yards and he shot even par and I shot 77. From the start, the staff was very friendly and courteous. Tee boxes were plush and very well defined. Fairways were cut very well and in great shape... you could take a divot and were like walking on carpet. The Rough was exactly what rough should be...penal in some cases and in some cases not. A ball that was hit terrible would give you a chance to get it back in play which was nice for me! Bunkers were in excellent condition and yes I was in some. The greens were in great condition but I will say that we joined another twosome on the back nine and their local knowledge of the course was interesting as far as how the greens would break. Great course for the price we paid and it was not a hot deal. Probably one of my sons favorites and I really liked it for playability. For the bad part... They need a Ranger for the course for pace of play...We started behind a group on number 1 and it was painful for 5 holes watching what was in front of us... and time consuming.... That was a problem till they really didn't have a choice in letting us through! We ran into it again on hole 8 because the group in front of their twosome would not let them play through... hence we paired up with them on the back 9. Still had to wait some here and there.
Great greens
Nice older course with a good layout. Greens are in good shape and on the quick side. Will definitely play here again.
My Favorite Course In Augusta
Forest Hills is my favorite place to play in Augusta. This course is very difficult with the exception of the par 5s that give you good looks at birdie and par. Greens are always in good shape and the fairways are exceptional. Great value for the money. Honestly, if you find a hot deal on GolfNow, you should book it because you can't find a better deal on golf in the CSRA.
A real gem.
Great course. Nice rolling hills and well maintained. Staff is very friendly.
Forest Hills
Nice Donald Ross course (he did Pinehurst #2). Tee to green moderate, around greens very difficult. You hit the green or your in some kind of trouble. Good fun!
Course isn't in it's best shape but still plays good
I like the course a lot but the course condition is at a low imo. The greens still rolled 80-90% true but you will see the occasional bump that will put it off line and some dead spots in the greens. But they do cut the holes away from the dead areas! Unlike other courses. So if you hit a quality shot you'll have a quality putt.
Warning!!
No need to warm up at this course. From the middle of #2 fairway till then, we waited at every tee box and every shot. At one hole there were two groups ahead of us. One on tee box and another waiting, and us. Saw a twosome of walkers playing two balls. NEVER SAW THE FIRST MARSHALL!!!! For $50 go somewhere else!
