Mystery Valley Golf Club
About
Mystery Valley Golf Club encompasses 230 acres of gently rolling land that ranges from dense forests of towering Georgia pines to grassy meadows covered in acres of colorful wildflowers. Mystery Valley is known for both the beautiful scenery on the course itself and the stunning views from the elevated tees. There are two lakes and a pond that dot the course, coming into play on three holes. At just over 6,700 yards, the layout features some long holes but it will also test your short game with strategically placed bunkers around the fast, medium-sized greens. There is an interesting variety of holes including several winding par 5s and the watery and treacherous 15th hole, which is considered one of Atlanta's most challenging par 4s. The more challenging elements of Mystery Valley Golf Club are balanced by the generous, player-friendly fairways.

Pleasantly surprised
Wow, I was impressed with this county course. It was my first time in my 53yrs, I wish I hadn't waited so long to find it. The employees working the clubhouse and carts were super nice and helpful. Clubhouse was well kept and now the course review. The greens are big and so low cut there like putting on a table, fast, not that I minded. The fairways are nice and wide, I hit my driver a lot off most tee boxes. So I'm short I'll be back to play here often.
Better than I was expecting
I hadn’t played Mystery in over 12+ years, and my expectations were relatively low as I grew up playing this course as a kid and in high school so was aware of its typical condition and really just wanted to play it again to reminisce, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. Now...not to overhype the course, it’s still mystery valley so you have to be realistic with your expectations, but for $40/50 not that bad. The greens, which is most important to me, we’re overall pretty solid. There are a few greens that have bad spots where the grass has died and you may have to shift right/left a foot or two to avoid it, but didn’t end up really being a problem in our group. They rolled pretty true but we struggled to dial in the speed, downhills you had to be cautious and uphills you had to smash it, and be firm with 5ft’rs. If they can get the fairways popping in the spring I will definitely play it more often. Overall: if you haven’t played it in a while go check it out, but again don’t set the bar too high, you get what you pay for. Some of these reviews are over the top, they want to pay $40 and get EastLake conditions, get real...

Consistent Conditions
Greens are still spotty but roll OK. The rest of the course is in good condition except for a few tee boxes. Quite a bargain for a Hot Deal.

How Not to Run a Golf Course
I had a 12:20 Tee Time on Sunday, 11/6/22.
They had no golf carts.
They said it was due to a large group of golfers who were taking much to long to play their 18 holes, and that was why the golf course was backed up and nobody could go out unless you were walking the course.
Most golf courses would have given the slow players their money back and asked them to leave so that the rest of the golfers could play their rounds as scheduled.
I waited more than one hour past my tee time and then cancelled my round and got a refund. Any good manager should know how to deal with a situation like this but apparently they did not know how. In the end it cost them more revenue than they received from the slow golfers. Poor judgement in my view.
First time, I'll be back
After some unpleasant experiences at another county golf club I decided to search for another. Well, my search ended at the first one I played, this one. The staff are very friendly and helpful. When I told them it was my first time there they went out of their way to direct me to different spots and answered all questions honestly and thoroughly. I was paired up with 2 older gentlemen (as I am) and enjoyed their company throughout the round. The course is challenging but very playable and well maintained. At the time of this writing its the beginning of November so keeping the fairways an greens free of leaves is very difficult but they staff has done a great job of doing so. The fairways were in great shape, the tee boxes are in remarkable shape considering the time of year, the greens need work, they seem to have grass issues and weren't consistent in their speeds.
Overall, a very pleasant experience for the first time playing there and I will be back.
Thanks for the amazing review and for choosing Mystery Valley Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon!
Need Improvements
Mystery Valley use to be in great conditions. It has been a few months since I’ve played here but the conditions have gone down. The greens are not in the best shape. There are dark spots and patches throughout some of the greens. Before our round started, we had to exchange golf carts twice before our 3rd one would work. The golf carts probably have not had maintenance on them for sometime. Unless you catch a hot deal, take your money elsewhere and enjoy.

Worth the trip if you're on that side of town or have all day
The course itself is a very great layout. Dog legs right and left, different green slopes and variations, multiple tee box options. Nice bunkers, water hazards come into play on a few holes, really about anything a course could throw at you, this one has. Okay maybe not rough so bad that you'll never find your ball if you aren't in the fairway.
Only downside is the greens. While they roll true and look mostly decent, quite a few have black patches from either shade, moss or something else. They ran true regardless and I would say somewhere around an 8. Not the fastest, but better than the other muni's out here I played on.
I'd be out at this place playing every day I could if I lived closer but the drive out is time killer from anywhere other than the east side.

Mystery?
It’s a mystery why anyone is playing. Course conditions are terrible. Maybe it’s just that time a year, I don’t know.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We understand your frustration with the current course conditions. Please bear with us as we work diligently to make improvements. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Great Sunday afternoon golf
Staff are super friendly and efficient. The course is a little rough regarding the lack of grass and fallen leaves. Love the layout. We will definitely be back.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your business. Mystery Valley Golf Club thanks you!
Sunny day
Mystery Valley is a tough but fair course with lots of rolling hills. Fairways and sand traps were in excellent condition. Greens and tee boxes have been overused as is typical for this time of year. I had a very enjoyable afternoon playing with my sons.

Great round
On the course was a great relaxing round. Course was in good condition for this time of year.. Greens rolled good. It was a good time.
Pro shop & starter where helpful, cheerfull & efficient.
Thanks so much for the great review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Mystery Valley Golf Club.
Extremely Average
Course conditions are not great. Greens are rough, leaves and sticks everywhere. Pace of play was horrible, but the guys in front of us looked relatively new to the game and didn’t know to let us through. But no Marshall to regulate anything. It’s a fine, average public course, but not GolfNow 4-star worthy.
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Mystery Valley Golf Club.
