No, the course itself is not especially challenging, but the conditions are. Haven't been here in 10 years and sadly the condition has declined. That said, it must be acknowledged that the greens which are currently awful are apparently being changed from bent to bermuda. If the transition is good, that will be a major plus. Fairways are challenging too as they are rough, not conducive to cart rounds. But at the right price, it's still good value.

This is a good public golf course with challenging layout. However, all the 18 Greens need to be replaced as they are all badly hurt by black fugus, weeds and the summer heat. Beside, the fairways also need to be properly filled, compact and roll as the ground has lots of port-holes.

Knowing that the course is changing its greens from bent to bermuda, which should change the playability of the course, the semi-dead bent cut short was still OK. The rest of the course was very good. It's worth playing if you can get a good price.

Course in very bad shape. All greens in poorer condition, some you can’t even putt. Overall it’s not even worth thinking about playing there. Waste of money & TIME.

2nd time playing here in 2 years - oh, have the conditions declined. I booked this course because I remember being impressed at the conditions and decent layout only to find the greens to be completely dead and the fairways like a shaggy carpet.

The layout can be challenging due to the narrow fairways, blind tee shots, and dog legs, but the greens absolutely killed my enjoyment. Green fees should be discounted until the course conditions reflect the price.

This is a classic track that I always enjoy. Challenging, very pretty and in decent shape for the cost and that it is a muny and gets a lot of play.

My big complaint with this joint is that they need to exercise some discipline with groups going out. They let singles , twosomes and threesomes go out and it kills the pace of play. Make these groups pair up and play as foursomes whenever possible, it would be much more enjoyable.

Mystery valley was an excellent golf course 3 - 4 years ago. Previous neglect by Dekalb County and there inability to run a golf course has ruined this once great place. 1st they cannot set a pin correctly. 2nd they constantly let 5 or more play together. The greens are dead. They contracted the snack bar to a 3rd party and they charge “Las Vegas” prices for beverages and microwaved food from Costco. Spend your time and money somewhere else.

Greens are poor. Bent grass is burned up from heat. Club is set to begin the conversion to dwarf Bermuda (heat tolerant)

Everything was easy and we had an enjoyable round. Lots of different tee shots and views. Has it all. Greens were not great but not terrible. Decent roll.

Could tell I was going to like this course on the drive in - long winding driveway through the course. They had a sizable driving range where we were able to hit off grass, chipping area, and (fairly rough) putting green. To be fair, the quality of the putting green was good prep for the course - pretty bad shape. However, that’s the ONLY complaint I had.

We played on a Saturday afternoon (twilight) and pace of play was outstanding, but I’m sure the morning experience would have been different.

This course was plenty challenging and more than long enough from the whites for me as I typically shoot in the 90s. Big penalty for missing fairways here and on most holes, going over the green will have you struggling to find your ball. Thick stuff out there with balls just-off the fairway being buried.

All in all, if you’re a stickler about green conditions this isn’t the course for you (at least until their repairs are complete), but if you’re just looking for a fun round of golf then this one should be more than satisfactory.

I played decently and the .weather was perfect. The fairways were decent but the rough was rough, and worst of all, were the greens. All of the greens looked terrible; like they were sick or something. They rolled fairly true but we really damp and sickly looking. I don't think this course is quite right just yet.

Several greens need a lot of work but overall the layout is great. I'd play it again

I had a 1620 tee time and went off about 1615. First thing that you notice is that the greens are in horrendous condition. The layout is ok, however, the most disappointing part was on the green of 17 the ranger came out and said it 1930 and I had to go in and I could not finish the round. This was disappointing for a couple of reasons, if not for the extremely slow foursome I caught up to (I was playing as a single) I would have got my whole round in. Even more disappointing however is that if the average pace of play is 4 hours they should not over 1640 tee times knowing that it is near impossible to finish the complete round. Over all very disappointing. Additionally it was mildly frustrating that I couldn’t buy a bottle of water at the turn because it was “closed” even though it was still staffed.

Very nice course. But the course has an issue. The bent grass greens are failing due to the heat. They plan to replace them next year with Bermuda grass greens. You are charged a$2 capital improvement fees to help finance the new greens. Other than the greens the course is in great shape.
