About
Mystery Valley Golf Club encompasses 230 acres of gently rolling land that ranges from dense forests of towering Georgia pines to grassy meadows covered in acres of colorful wildflowers. Mystery Valley is known for both the beautiful scenery on the course itself and the stunning views from the elevated tees. There are two lakes and a pond that dot the course, coming into play on three holes. At just over 6,700 yards, the layout features some long holes but it will also test your short game with strategically placed bunkers around the fast, medium-sized greens. There is an interesting variety of holes including several winding par 5s and the watery and treacherous 15th hole, which is considered one of Atlanta's most challenging par 4s. The more challenging elements of Mystery Valley Golf Club are balanced by the generous, player-friendly fairways.

Good, needs some work
There were fairways that were patchy, the greens were patchy but still rolled pretty well. The staff were very friendly which is always a plus. We played 18 in under 4 hours without rushing. There are signs that they will be renovating the greens so hopefully that issue will be solved. I'm sure we'll be back as overall it's still a good course.

Great layout. Should be great in a year!
The course has a great layout & was mostly very well maintained. Fairways, rough, and all the bunkers were excellent. The staff was even grooming the bunkers during our round. But the greens are terrible. At the turn, in the restroom, we saw notices that the greens are planned to be replanted next year. So- depending on the greens being fixed, the course will be great.

On the day I booked my outing. There was no indicator on the website the back 9 was closed, pace of place always at a crawl and one one of your grounds keeps berated a member of my party. A 73 year old man because of where he left

Pace was slow and greens were sandy

Greens Need Improvement
I've always known that Mystery Valley was a DeKalb county course. We were told at the club house that it used to be managed by a management company but earlier this year the county took it over. Sadly it shows. Every single green has dead spots across them. In some cases it looks they sanded them and went a little overboard.
Aside from that the pace of play was great. We finished in 3 and half hours. I was expecting to see a lot more people out there for a Sunday but the parking lot was only half full. Don't know if it was because of the holiday weekend or if word has gotten out about the condition of the greens.

Greens are horrific
I love this course but the greens were horrific. I've never seen an entire 18 greens in this shape. They said they are about to redo the greens.. this should have been disclosed and reflected in the green fees charged. Unfortunate. Bad business practice.

Challenging!
No, the course itself is not especially challenging, but the conditions are. Haven't been here in 10 years and sadly the condition has declined. That said, it must be acknowledged that the greens which are currently awful are apparently being changed from bent to bermuda. If the transition is good, that will be a major plus. Fairways are challenging too as they are rough, not conducive to cart rounds. But at the right price, it's still good value.

Horrible Greens
This is a good public golf course with challenging layout. However, all the 18 Greens need to be replaced as they are all badly hurt by black fugus, weeds and the summer heat. Beside, the fairways also need to be properly filled, compact and roll as the ground has lots of port-holes.

Greens ugly but puttable
Knowing that the course is changing its greens from bent to bermuda, which should change the playability of the course, the semi-dead bent cut short was still OK. The rest of the course was very good. It's worth playing if you can get a good price.

Avoid playing here.
Course in very bad shape. All greens in poorer condition, some you can’t even putt. Overall it’s not even worth thinking about playing there. Waste of money & TIME.

Disappointing
2nd time playing here in 2 years - oh, have the conditions declined. I booked this course because I remember being impressed at the conditions and decent layout only to find the greens to be completely dead and the fairways like a shaggy carpet.
The layout can be challenging due to the narrow fairways, blind tee shots, and dog legs, but the greens absolutely killed my enjoyment. Green fees should be discounted until the course conditions reflect the price.

Always fun at Mystery
This is a classic track that I always enjoy. Challenging, very pretty and in decent shape for the cost and that it is a muny and gets a lot of play.
My big complaint with this joint is that they need to exercise some discipline with groups going out. They let singles , twosomes and threesomes go out and it kills the pace of play. Make these groups pair up and play as foursomes whenever possible, it would be much more enjoyable.
