About
UNC Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well conditioned comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile. The 15th through the 17th are a beautiful stretch of holes that provide a formidable test as well. The excellent conditions are another feature of the UNC Finley golf course that has made it popular.

First time playing Finley
Wonderful course on a beautiful day. Disappointed that the greens were beat up. Service from all staff were exemplary along with the driving range, chipping and putting facilities. Would definitely play again and see if conditions on the greens were an anomaly.

Greens Slow
Great layout, pace of play ok at 4 1/2 hrs. The greens (bent) are very wet, spongy and slow......
Wish Finley would change to Bermuda greens. Rest of course is in very good condition.

Greens were the only problem
Bent grass greens???
Beautiful and challenging but fair course. But the greens were in terrible shape and I think need to be replaced with one of the Bermuda hybrids. Otherwise I loved it.

Disappointed — Not worth the money at this time
I was really looking forward to playing this course. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Hole 14 is under repair; therefore, we had to skip it. The greens on the remaining holes were less than desirable; one gentlemen described them has slow and bumpy. I would certainly wait to play again after they repair the greens. For the price I paid, I thought that they would have a cart person who would make rounds with snacks/drinks; this never happen. I am not sure if it was worth the price. .
Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. After the intense summer that the course has endured, the greens and some areas around the course need maintenance to improve conditions and playability at the facility. We recently aerated the greens to help them recover from the summer, but they are still showing signs of continued stress and need rest and play removed from them. We will close the course and practice putting greens beginning on Tuesday 9-7-21 for at least 10 days. If we see the need to extend the closure beyond 10 days, we will do so. During the course closure, the driving range will continue to be open as normal. We regret this decision but must protect the overall quality of the course and see this closure as a necessary step to keep the course playable into the fall and winter months. We appreciate your understanding and hope you consider rejoining us for another round in the future.
Greens were embarrassingly bad for a top tier course
Course was overall in good condition with the exception of the 14th hole being closed, the greens (I’m not sure I got a true roll all day), and I had a shot plug so badly I couldn’t get it out of the mud, and It has rained once in the last week.
Overall the layout of the course was good. The architecture was interesting, and I liked the design. I found it challenging but rewarded good shots. Probably one of the better Fazio courses I have played.
The course is billed as one of the premier courses of the triangle. I’m not sure it’s in that tier because of the bent greens. With Bermuda greens this course would be exceptional. However your only option now is to either play it spring or fall before the Bermuda fairways go dormant and the bent grass greens are thriving. I will avoid playing this course in the summer again

Slow greens
Great overall conditions but the greens were terribly slow.

UNC Finley Course
Played here a few times. Overall very good course with challenges for all levels of golfer. Not real long but challenging nevertheless. The driving range and short game area are pretty average. On this day, the greens had been aerated recently so there was a lot sand, bumps and inconsistency in the putting surface. Normally the greens are pretty good. Definitely a course to be on our regular circuit of local courses.

Not worth the money
The fairways and tee boxes were great but the pace of play and greens were horrendous. Every green had dozens of pitch marks. Take your money elsewhere because it’s way overpriced for the conditions.

The greens had been aerated about a week ago and have not quite recovered yet. Otherwise condition of the course was excellent.

It's A Great Course, But Someone Needs to Fix the Greens
The course is beautiful, and it is largely in great shape. The one exception being the greens... TERRIBLE. There were massive divots, holes, and all sorts of different damage to nearly every one of them. It was very disappointing because it was a really nice layout, the fairways/rough/tee boxes were all in good shape. Bottom line: we had a great time out there, but the greens were an embarrassment considering we paid $98/per.

Nice public course
The course was great. The staff was supper welcoming and the only thing that needed closer attention were the restrooms near the driving range.

Fantastic layout, impressive conditions, challenging but accessible - this course was everything you want in a course. We played in the first tee time as a twosome and finished in less than 3 hours. I will define back!
