Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
World Golf Village is home to 36 challenging holes of championship golf. The Slammer & Squire Course is named after the two World Golf Hall of Fame legends, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, who served as consultants to the course's designer, Bobby Weed. The golf course is known for its tricky par-3 holes and the carefully preserved beauty of the landscape. Its traditional layout meanders through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks, running alongside wetland preserves and a wildlife habitat. The scenic Slammer & Squire Course features contoured greens and gently rolling, generous fairways. There is also an abundance of water on the golf course in the forms of lakes and marshes.

Meh
Arrived early to warm up. Star was friendly and picked me and my bag up in the parking lot. Nice touch! Then I paid with a debit card and still was charged the 3% processing fee (they must do this so much that they forget to ask). Driving range was nice. Course was in good shape. Greens need to be rolled to smooth out bumps from plugging previous pin positions. Nice to say I played here but unless I read that they updated the course I’ll probably not come back.
Great Layout
I really enjoyed playing the course. It's one of those what you see is what you get layouts. Nothing spectacular...Nothing ridiculous. Being from an area with mostly bent grass courses, it's hard for me to really love Bermuda grass venues - especially in the spring time during dryer than normal weather patterns, which lends itself to less than plush grass off the fairways and greens. Nevertheless the course was in great shape if the lack of greenery doesn't matter to you.
We paid $94 per tee time, which I think is somewhat above the value received. However, as I said, we enjoyed it and will return to play the King-Bear course on our next visit to St. Augustine.
Over-hyped
The clubhouse and proshop were extremely hot and everything was disorganized. The staff inside were pleasant enough.
The starter was a complete jackwad and made our group of 8 immediately question our decision to play this course. You would have thought he wanted nobody there and acted like we had never played a round of golf anywhere before and that we were about to enter the hallowed grounds of Aigusta. It's like he was the lead performer at a one man show as his speel took like 15 minutes and we almost missed our tee time. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous!
The course was in below average condition, especially compared to King & Bear. Price was good but pace of play was very slow. Probably because of the starter honestly.
Overall, I would not play this course again, which is the only one (out of 8) that I can say for Florida.
Great course, slow play
The course and the layout were excellent. However the pace of play was extremely disappointing and greatly affected our experience. Better course management by rangers is really needed as well as the lack of on course concessions.
Good St Augustine option
The is a good option in St. Augustine. Greens were in good shape but slow. Hard to predict the break. Slowed down at the end with some slow groups in front of us. Staff was extremely friendly!
One of my favorite golf outings.
Exceptional service with check-in and getting on the course.
Underwhelmed for the cost
The course is decent.condition for March -. greens were fine.. Found it difficult to see the greens and they have many sharp edges - not clear where should miss on each hole.
Surprised there was no GPS on the comfy cart but found out after that there was an app. Not interested in using a phone and another app when i playing - always other distractions..
We got a long briefing before hitting off about irrelevant stuff and no mention of app- despite being first time players. Asked the starter how the course was playing to determine appropriate yardage. He said soft and then the course was playing hard and fast.. Sigh
We had a few holes free ahead of us on tee-off but quickly caught up on 3rd hole and waited all day. Two groups on the tee..etc Over 4.30 hours despite fsst start
Do not appreciate the 3 pct credit card fee that is not advertised when you book.
Why not make it 10 pct ??
Will not be back
In great shape
Played March 20th 2026 and the greens were in the best shape I’ve ever seen them.
Great day
Course was in great shape. Pace of play was good. I will be back again soon.
Nice but overpriced.
While this is a nice and challenging golf course, the price tag does not match. When this was attached to the world golf hall of fame I could understand tourist pricing, but now you have golf course without GPS on the carts that is just way higher priced than courses of equal quality in the area.
Must Play
Beautiful Course in excellent condition. Staff was very friendly and the ride back to your car was very nice. Would have given 5 stars, but I got charged 64 dollars through Golf Now and then I still had to pay another 75 dollars when I checked in. Golf now shoed it at 79 plus tax for a foursome. You do the math
Loved the Revisit
Played many years ago. It was delightful. Conditions were good. Pace of play excellent. Staff was very welcoming and provided all the necessary info,
Look forward to returning.
Great shape for winter
I know - winter isn’t the same here but greens were green and even some green in the fairways compared to all the brown courses around right now. It has a great practice area and the staff does a good job. Enjoyed the day even thought it was cold to me! 55 degrees and windy. Thanks
