The King & Bear Course at World Golf Village is named for its designers, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It is the first and only collaboration between the two legendary golfers. Combining the contrasting styles of the two designers created a challenging course that incorporates features from both traditional Scottish-links courses and new traditions in American golf. The course is known for the numerous lakes bordered by large coquina rock that come into play throughout. The front nine is dotted with loblolly pines while decades-old oak trees provide shade for the back nine. In addition to King & Bear, World Golf Village also offers another excellent 18-hole course, Slammer & Squire.

Pristine Conditions

First time playing here and I was impressed. It’s the nicest public course in the area aside from TPC Sawgrass. The layout was awesome, definitely some memorable holes. The course conditions were second to none. Aside from the pace of play, it was a perfect experience

Nice but slow greens

Conditions overall are good, but not great. Greens look nice, are firm on approach, but SLOW. Slower than the county muni a few miles away. Maybe a 7-8 stimp at best. We were constantly leaving putts short. Bunkers were also quite inconsistent - I was in soft sand, hardpan, wet to the point of almost muddy and everything in between. I expect better for the two WGV courses, especially for what they charge.

Very nice experience

Staff could not find me on the tee sheet for the first few minutes, I got very nervous but they got it all squared away, staff inside and out were professional and polite and happy, very helpful, paired with 2 very nice guys from Canada. Wanted to pick up a few things from the pro shop but it was to late, they were closed

Overall we all had a great time and the course was in excellent condition. Will be coming back.

disappointed

Not sure why the course would allow 250 reservations in one day. we didn’t get to finish the round and we started at 3:13pm. We left at 8:00pm because there was a line on 17 and 18. i placed this reservation in February in hopes of them not overbooking near my party’s tee time. Tee times ended up being 5 minutes apart and it was unorganized.

Nice place to play.

Course was in nice condition. Greens were perfect. Newer greens so we were told they would be firm, which they were but nothing to be concerned about. Good shots stop just fine. The only poor item was the hole cutting, some cups were barely below the surface and most were raised edges, not my expectation for such an expensive course. It didnt ruin my day, just a surprise.

Pace of Play.

First off I played as a single on a busy day and knew I had to be very patient and knew there would be waits between shots. Front 9 was played in 2:05 (excellent). Back nine 2:30 (poor), for total time over 4:30. No Marshall in sight. Sorry but too much waiting..
