Everything was in good shape. I played for $25, can’t beat that.
Back and better than ever before...
I was really worried about this place in 2018. Happy to say they have rebounded nicely. If you are in this area on vacation, I highly recommended it. I've played all the courses in the Myrtle Beach area and this is by far the best value. Nothing really comes close in value. The course down the road (Thistle) at over double the price is overrated for what they charge. When I come to this area, SandPiper Bay is always a good choice. All three 9's were in great shape on this trip.
We started playing this course over 20 years ago. It is in fabulous condition, challenging and the greens are impeccable.
Course was wet from heavy rains otherwise everything was excellent. Greens in great shape. Played by myself and finished in under 3 hours. Mostly had it to myself. Great day.
Piper/Bay
Course was in very good condition. Greens looked nice and rolled fast. Would definitely play it again.
Great day
The course allowed you to be a little sideways and you still had a shot!
Course has a lot to offer
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Course was tough but not fair for average golfers. Only problem was a foursome who thought they owed the place hit into our group and just played through on there own when we were a threesome waiting on group in front of us
Dry n Fast
100 plus degrees, Tees were a bit chewed up due to the amount of play and had not been changed for a while along with dry fast and hard greens with cups needing repair and reset. Great fairways and traps and would recommend everyone to play.. Coolers were empty due to the heat but no reason for not refilling with ice and water.
Up charges
Couldn’t bring a cooler with water because of liquor license...
Had to rent clubs for my fiancé “because it speeds up play”. even though we waited behind a group of slower guys a half dozen times.
Good tme
The only problem was cart path only.
That was understandable poured the night before. .No Beverage Cart.
Challenging course GPS could have helped. Not many courses out here don't have GPS. all in all 3.5 hours to play. Will definitely be back.
Did not have our reservation
When we arrived at course for our GN confirmed tee time, we were told our 5:06 Ter time was not in their system. They did try to accommodate us by telling us we could play the 9 holes , but we would have to be finished by 6:15 pm. So we ended up play best ball to make sure we finished in one hour in fifteen minutes. GN needs to make sure our reservation gets into their system so we don’t feel rushed the next time we play
June 19
Check in was unfriendly. We played the course the previous Saturday with a 6 & 10 year old with no problem. My son in law was scolded for bringing them out in the morning. Although Saturday we were held up by two foursomes. He was charged for an extra cart when we weren’t charged Saturday. The two juniors only played a tee shot picked up and then putted when we got to the greens (not on every hole). We recognize that the pace of play is important and did not or would not slow play because of the young players.
From the head professional. Juniors play free in the PM and are $25 in the AM. When the course is not busy we may allow carts with juniors for free as a courtesy but pace of play is paramount.
Slow day
We had 3 foursomes and a twosome of older woman in front of us and it took us a little over 3 hrs for 9 holes which I think is unacceptable for just two of us. The scenary was great and the layout was very nice. Not a complicated course but had some challenges none the less. Highly recommend for the price.
From the head professional. Thank you for the feedback, it does take a Foursome twice as long to play than a twosome. Our pace of play is two hours and ten minutes for nine holes.
Excellent course, excellent condition.
Sandpiper bay is great condition. Played the Piper 9 followed by the Sand 9 and couldnt have been more impressed. Greens ran smooth and true, fairways looked beautiful. If I had to complain about something I'd say some of the tee boxes needed some TLC but most looked fine. First time playing and can't wait to come back!
From the head professional. Due to the recent drought we have only been able to water the greens. Our tees are slowing coming back with the weekly rain.
From the head professional. Coolers are permitted, coolers with outside alcohol are not. Drinking water is on the course every 3 holes.
Each golfer is required to have their own set of clubs.
