Course great, Ranger had a bad attitude
Our group of 6 played hte course divided into 2 threesomes. We all really enjoyed the course EXCEPT for when we had to deal with one of the Course Rangers. The group in front of stopped at the clubhouse on the turn and they waved us on to play. We went ahead and played the 10th hole and as we got near the green, the Ranger comes up to us and starts swearing at me because I'm too close to the green. I clearly had a handicap flag out and I parked about 20 ft from the green as I was told by the course starter. However, he came up and swore at me because I was too close and then proceeded to tell us (again swearing) that we were holding up people at the tee box. We tried to tell him we were waved on to go because the other group took a while at the turn. So he came to let us have it. Poor judgement on his part. Swearing at us and not even asking us what is happening was not a great experience. Avoid the Rangers!
Great course but expect to wait
The course is in great shape. Greens roll true- tee novels immaculate, everything is perfect.
However , they always overbook- so the tee times are a joke. However, part of the problem was with Giolf Now, I saw seven people myself included that made a tee time reservation through Golf Now but did not get on the Clubhouse sheet. But this did not really matter the starter always favored the people he knew or the people who would slip him extra cash for a better tee time. But overall the course is in great shape. I also need more than 20 range balls to warm up with, they now only give a small bag instead of having the balls out so you can properly get ready for a great round. Fire the starter and change the range balls and this will once again be the best place to play. I keep coming back to play because I support who and what they are designed to be. Thanks to everyone who is working hard to make it a great place.
From the Head Golf Professional. Thank you for the feedback and let me offer an explanation. Golf Now pulls open tee times through the day but is not live. If it does not refresh in time Golf Now times appear to be overbooked.
Several slow groups in the morning backed up the afternoon. Our starters do not take tips and do an excellent job getting 150 golfers out in a two hour period.
The small bag of range balls is free and for warm up purposes. Additional bags are available for purchase.
Our course conditions and staff are excellent. Thank you for the feedback.
Great value for the area
Course is in great shape for this time of year
Fairways were plush and greens rolled true across the course
Played the sand and bay courses today
Will be back this week so hope to play piper
Rough still coming in from Winterkill
For the area this course is a great value as it’s cheaper than courses whose conditions are not good but think they are so they make u break the bank for a bad experience
Only negative was pace of play was slow to be 2nd group out, used to sub 4 hr rounds for early groups on a Sat otherwise this course would be a 5
One of the best value courses in the area
The course was in close to perfect shape, and with a good pace of play it made for a great day. The fairways were lush and the greens were soft and a good speed, with the ball rolling true. The course is very playable, with only a couple of holes (on Sand and Piper 9s) that offer any significant level of difficulty. The par 3s were especially well designed. For the $, there is not much else in the area that can compare or offer better value. A must play. We`ll e back next year.
Don't pass on this one.
For those that know the area, it's understood that conditioning is fluid. Sandpiper is in good shape. The greens roll well, although I would prefer a little more speed (the greens weren't slow, but they were not fast either).
The starter and bag guys were friendly and accommodating.
For those seeking nature, I saw no less than 8 Gators!! AND.....we played in less than 4 hours (twosome following foursomes)!
I recommend this place to all. It is challenging enough for better players (I'm scratch), but won't beat up the bogey player.
Great Golfing Experience!
My wife and I are planning to retire in South Carolina. When we do, this Golf Course will be at the top of our list. Everything from the clubhouse to the practice facilities to the course itself was extremely enjoyable.
The layout is interesting, and it requires a number of skilled shots to score low. But it also was extremely friendly to female golfers.
In fact, this Golf Course is nestled in an about other premium golf courses that charge quite a bit more to play. I would choose this call course over any of those. You cannot get much greater satisfaction from playing a high price Golf Course than you can from playing this one.
If you see it on GolfNow, you better grab it. It is well worth your time.
Good conditions
Fairways and greens in excellent conditions pavé off play slow on the first nine
Easter Birdie
Had a good time with another couple from eastern Canada on Easter morning. Didn't find any eggs but managed a few birdies!!!
What a Difference a Year Makes
The greens have been fully restored to their regular true and fully grassed in condition. A much improved situation since we last played in 2018. We will definitely be back in the near future to enjoy the much improved conditions.
Also a pleasure to be able to use carts on the course 2 days after the course received over 4 inches of rain.
Fun Time
We had a great time. First time golfing this year. We laughed at each other. Great time
Safe bet
Been playing here since I was a teenager, fairways are always second to none, greens as good as you’ll find now, this course is a good place for any skill level, always enjoy playing here!
Pef course.rfect Day
Golfing at Sandpiper Bay allows you to experience excellence from staff to a wonderfully conditioned golf course. There is no need to play winter rules with fairways in this conditions. The greens were fast and ran very true.
A pleasure from the minute we stepped on the property.
Thoroughly enjoyed the golf course
Extremely nice golf course in excellent condition. Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced. It's a challenging course but not brutal like some courses in the Myrtle Beach area are. It's obvious that this course is well taken care of. The new greens make a good course even better. Will try to get on it again before we leave
Value for the money
Got to the course early today for an 8:am tee time and killed some time in the bar. The bartender was an outstanding conversationalist. We talked while I drank my coffee and enjoyed an exceptional breakfast sandwich. The Starters and Bagboys were excellent. The course conditions were above average. Forgivingly wide fairways and well placed bunkers made shot selection critical. The greens are in excellent condition. I will definitely come back.
Very Good Value
Tees, fairways and greens all in very good shape. Recent rain made conditions cart path only and long walks, but that was not the courses fault. Would recommend for anyone looking for a fun day out.
Sandpiper
Corus excellent shape greens consistent throughout tea boxes fairways excellent condition will play again
Displeased that this course does not appreciate those who book through Golf now. Not sure why they would sign up with Golf now if they don't want these bookings. When we arrived it was raining to the point where the course was almost unplayable. They would not give rain checks to those who went through Glofnow. Very disappointing.
From the head golf professional; The handicap policy states 30 yards from the greens, not 20 feet. The ranger was merely doing his job by informing you of the course rules. As for the cursing, always two sides to a story.
