Good Day
Always a good day at Sandpipers Bay. Nice course, good value.
Yikes the Flies!
Course was in great shape. But the flies were biting us so much, we almost quit before the round was finished. Bug bands helped a little, so appropriate repellent might work, but we won't go back there for a while.
Fun Layout
Played a week after Hurricane Florence hit the NC coast.
No standing water anywhere on the course. 90 degree rule in effect. Greens were very good but maybe a bit slow.
Great layout.....keep this course on your short list!.
Best Kept Secert
2 nd year in a row playing here. We come down every year from Asheboro NC.... guys golf outing. Best course around for the money.
Excellent course
Course has had a big turn around since winter frost.. it is in the best shape ever! Fairways and rough are in great shape! Greens are excellent shape! Highly recommend playing this course!
Won’t go wrong playing here
Entire course is in great shape. Greens perfect and medium to fast speed. Even sodding areas around cart path areas for a course this reasonable is incredible
Great Course
This is a great course in great condition with really nice greens. I play here often when I am in the area. It also has a nice practice facility with free range balls which is a bonus.
Great Experience
Clubhouse, restaurant and pro-shop were very friendly and accommodating. On course experience was very good from the Starter to the beverage cart person.
The fairways weee a bit soggy due to the rains, the greens were in good condition.
Course rebounding after heavy rains
We've had 3 weeks of heavy rains, so I didn't expect a dry course. Had to play cart path only, which slowed things up, but overall the course was in pretty good shape considering the soaking rains recently. Greens were slow, but in decent shape after some aeration a few weeks ago.
Too wet.
Had two visitors that HAD to play before flying home. Got a great rate at SandPiper for a AM time. Played the Piper/Bay courses and found that the greens were much improved from earlier this spring. Only #4 and #8 on Piper were still recovering, but almost all others were back. Greens were aerated, but you could see that the course is almost recovered. It was Cart Path as we had over 12-14 inches in the last two weeks. Will play again, but not until the course dries out.
Four (4) Temporary Greens
Except for the four (4) temporary greens on the Sand nine, this course was in very good shape. I played Sandpiper years ago when it had bentgrass greens. They converted to a strain of Bermuda grass a few years ago, and they withstand the hot summers a lot better. The four holes that had temp greens were just a couple weeks from being back on their regulation greens.
I teed off in the afternoon, around 1:00 PM, and finished my round in just over 3 hours.
Great Course
Course was in pretty good shape. Seeing how the greens at every course were damaged this winter, they had a great greens! Some were just spectacular and some were still recovering in spots. I would say 15 out of 18 were just awesome with the others just having a few spots needing more time. The fairways were holding water but it did rain the whole day before playing. Overall great course and i would definitely play again next time I’m here.
GREENS ?
THE GREENS ARE GONE. WHAT IS LEFT OF ANY OF THE GREENS ARE VERY SLOW. THE COURSE NEEDS A GOOD SIX MONTS TO RECOVER.
Nice layout. Challenging holes.
Sandpiper Bay has a nice course layout. Played the black tees which created some long par 5’s and par 3’s. Greens were relatively slow but rolled true. I’d play this course again.
Good course - great price
Yes, there are some temporary greens out there on the Sand course, but I cannot complain about that when I typically shoot over 100. The pace of play was outstanding as we rarely, if ever, had to wait to take a shot. Layout was good, not overly challenging. Would golf there again at the price we paid!
Play it again
Staff very friendly and helpful. Course under repair in spots. Greens burnt in spots. Was not told till after we arrived at the course. Layout great.
What's gone will be the four temporary greens starting Friday. Fairways and tees in excellent condition, Bay course opens early August.
New Greens open for play on July 20th.
