Eagle Chase Golf Club

Everything was perfect today. Fairways coming in nicely, the greens fast and the weather perfect. I must give a shout-out to the starter today. The rest of my group was late for our tee time. He went out of his way to accommodate us and flip a couple of tee times. Kudos to Eagle Chase. A joy to play.

Beautiful and challenging but not too hard. Only cons are the cartpaths. In my top 5 along with rocky river and red bridge

Greens were in fantastic condition, views from holes were great, love the hills. Challenging course for average golfer. I played poorly but still had a great time. I will be back and recommend to others.

I love the greens and elevation changes. Holes 11 and 15 are poorly designed. Good overall value, and worth the hike to Marshville area a few times per year.

I am a huge Tom Jackson fan. Love his layouts. Have heard from peeps at my favorite golf shop in Charlotte Greater Golf that this was a Must Play. Exceeded all expectations and dreams. Flawless. Played Trump National in DC same week. Eagle Chase greens were even better. Perfect. Nirvana. Golf Heaven.

The greens are always good. I played all over last year and Eagle Chase about 5 rounds. One of those rounds the greens were the fastest I played all season. The other 4 rounds the speed was average. The fairways have not come in yet as it’s to early. However I do find that the cutting crew cuts the Fairways too short during the prime season. The collars around the greens has zero Fluff. Tight lies are always difficult around the greens.

The cart paths need to be addressed.

The practice range is one of the best.

The major problem with this course previously was the poor conditions of the cart paths in some areas, with tree roots having raised the asphalt. I am glad to see that this has been addressed. The bad areas of cart paths have been removed and replaced by smooth packed gravel/dirt. The course is great, with Diamond Zoysia greens and no bad spots. The greens are a good challenge, with most putts having some break. The holes are unique, making the layout enjoyable to play. I saw one guy with a walking cart, but this would be a difficult course to walk due to elevation changes. The clubhouse is basic with no frills. I highly recommend this course.

This isn’t the first time this has happened at Eagle Chase. The so called “gambling” group played with 5 today (sometimes I’ve been behind 6) holding the rest of us behind. There were over 2 open ahead of them. After waiting the entire back 9 I took pics. As you can see no group on the 15th or 16th greens (1st pics) while we watched them in the 15th fairway. The 3some in between us and the five, finished the 15th hole as did we before the 5 finished the 16th par 3, creating 3 groups on the 16th see 3rd pic).

Greens were the best part. I really liked the layout except for one or two gimmicky holes.

I got this round of a steal from a hot deal, but I would play this course at full price in a heartbeat. It's a little off the beaten path (I got stuck behind a tractor on the way there) but since it's isolated, it's a peaceful round with only the hums of golf carts to distract you. The greens were in great shape, and you could tell the tee boxes and fairways are trying to come back.

The course itself was a little tricky, but fun. The elevated tee boxes and rolling fairways provide you with opportunities to try to cut corners on some holes, while others force you to play specific shots off the tee. The greens are rather large in area, which may be good or bad, because the greens were extremely quick. I bent down to read my line with some weight on my putter, only to have the bottom of the blade slide out from underneath me; that's how slick they were.

Guys in the pro shop were great. I showed up a little early and since I was a single, they told me to go ahead when I was ready. I started about five minutes early and hit a foursome on the second hole, but they let me play through. Two more groups let me through as well, but there wasn't really anywhere for me to go. Pace of play was still acceptable though (got done in a little over 3 hours).

It might be a bit of a drive from certain parts in the Charlotte area, but it's definitely worth it if you're trying to escape the city life for a few hours.
