The Legends Golf Course at Parris Island
About
The Legends at Parris Island offers a unique golfing experience and a challenging layout, amid a beautiful setting. Near Atlantic coast beaches and surrounded by beautiful marsh views, Parris Island is situated on a park-like military base where Marines are trained and equipped for U.S. military service positions all over the world. Golfers must have a tee time in order to come aboard Parris Island.
The golf course truly is a legend, having been rated as one of the top 10 military golf courses in the world. Yet it is little known by the outside world, tucked away from crowds, and a place of peaceful solitude.
The 18-hole golf course is lined with live oaks draped in Spanish moss. It features 6,898 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.3, and it has a slope rating of 131. Designed by Fred Findley and George Cobb, the Legends opened in 1947. Clyde Johnston redesigned it in 2000.

Excellent coarse. Great layout. Course is in excellent condition. Awesome greens. Very nice people.
Meat man
Wonderful course to play challenging but allows for the occasional leaker. The greens were good but not as fast as they were in November. I’ll be back!
Will definitely go back.
First time playing and the staff was incredibly friendly and treated me like a regular customer. Course layout was fun and the course was in great shape. Some parts of the club house were Under construction so it should look really nice when they’re done. Will definitely go back.
Club House not very inviting for a golf course. Obviously under new construction hopefully to improve that.
Fun
The course is in good shape for this time of year. The tee times were filled, yet we finished in four hours. Alligators abound! Love being surrounded by nature.
I knew i was in trouble when they said their is not a starter. The pace of play was slow and the course conditions was average. The bright spot of the day was the greens, they were fast and true. What you saw was what you got on the greens.
Needs work
The course is still in rough shape. Tee boxes need work. The clubhouse is not well supplied. What about food? There was none!
Really fun course...greens very nice and fairways good as well.
BTW...saw the biggest gator we’ve ever seen...wow!
Course was wet because of rain the day before. However it did not interfere with the pace of play. Greens were in great shape.
Enjoyable Day
My wife and I had a great time playing The Legends today. The course is laid out to be both challenging for good golfers and friendly to people who like to play for relaxation and little pressure. The staff was very friendly and the clubhouse was relaxed and the menu was what you would expect at a club where you come to play golf.
A hole n one on 14!
The course was in good condition. We joined a very nice couple visiting from Arizona . We had an enjoyable round, with my ace on hole 14. The Pro shop staff were super. I live in VA, so I played the course only once previously. I will play the Legends whenever I am on the area.
Great Course Layout
Definitely worth the drive from Hilton Head up to Parris Island. Course was in very good condition. Quite a few holes with water, but fairways were wide enough in most cases you could take water out of play. Sand traps were in excellent condition. Yes I did get to try out a few. I will definitely go back when opportunity arises.
