About

Holes 18
Type Military
Par 72
Length 6898 yards
Slope 131
Rating 73.3

The Legends at Parris Island offers a unique golfing experience and a challenging layout, amid a beautiful setting. Near Atlantic coast beaches and surrounded by beautiful marsh views, Parris Island is situated on a park-like military base where Marines are trained and equipped for U.S. military service positions all over the world. Golfers must have a tee time in order to come aboard Parris Island.

The golf course truly is a legend, having been rated as one of the top 10 military golf courses in the world. Yet it is little known by the outside world, tucked away from crowds, and a place of peaceful solitude.

The 18-hole golf course is lined with live oaks draped in Spanish moss. It features 6,898 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.3, and it has a slope rating of 131. Designed by Fred Findley and George Cobb, the Legends opened in 1947. Clyde Johnston redesigned it in 2000.

This course is a must play in The Low Country

Best greens I've putted on in the south! Conditions were excellent. Pace of play was incredible. Watch for the gators walking across fairways. Can't wait to get back and play it again! Keep it going such a great experience! We recommend this to everyone!

Fantastic S.C. Course

I decided to take a one hour and forty minute drive from Summerville today. I have heard for the longest time about The Legends Course. I'm very glad that I made the trip. The course was busy, but the pace of play was steady. The fairways at Legend are absolutely perfect. The greens have no blemishes at all, although the STIMP was about 10.5 on all the greens. Youch. The course is very fair but very challenging. Think before you tee it up as there is sand and water most everywhere. Make sure you put the ball in the fairway because the rough is quite unforgiving. Its not impossible to get out of the rough, but your ball may be about two inches deep. In addition, it's very rare that I play a golf course that is not lined with homes along the fairways. There are no homes to be seen, just nature. Wonderful and glorious nature. It's very refreshing. Wherever you live, make the drive to Paris Island, SC. They "Make Marines" here and a GEM of a course. Cheers.

“Non Resident” price

Heard great things about this course. That being said, this is the ONLY golf course in the low country that does not give a resident discount unless you live in the TWO neighboring counties. I have played everywhere in Hilton Head, Bluffton and the surrounding areas and have always been treated as a “local”. I live in Savannah, Ga by the way. Do yourself a favor and play another course that is as nice or better cheaper. Not worth the price to play here. Will NEVER play this course again. So much for being a former Marine. Semper Fi !!!

Special place to play

This was my second time making the trek to Parris Island. The first time we had to get out of our car and wait for it to be swept for bombs and whatnot. This time we just flashed ID and went right through. I know that sounds better, but it was a little disappointing. The only complaint I had was that the kitchen was closed when we walked in right at noon. The course was in great shape, wasn’t too busy and we were able to breeze around. There are plenty of tough holes mixed with scoreable ones. The real treat is the patriotism all over the facility. Playing alongside active duty Marines in their base is a great experience. I will always try to make sure I make a trip to Legends for at least one round when I’m down in the area.

Well maintained

Horrible hot weather, but, if you're in the vicinity and going to shoot no matter what, you shoot. We had little of any breeze. Humidity was high. Started before 0900 and finished in under 4 hours. Most traps very nicely maintained. Greens and tees excellent condition. Rough was just that - rough, but maintained. Would have liked more available water or a kid on a cart. We were worn out by the 14th green. Greens ran true and shots held. Staff was helpful. Nice value, considering what you couldhave to pay to play in the vicinity..

Course is always in great condition. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Greens were in great condition even after very hot conditions for the past few days. Highly recommend this course to anyone in the area.

Low Country Golf Perfection

I wasn’t expecting much and was dutifully rewarded with more. True greens, lots of water, great pace— what more could you want. Lots of pars are out there. Go get ‘em.

Perfect Conditions!

stopped on the way home to FL at Paris Island Marine Base, The Legends Course and played 18. The course immaculate, well maintained. The greens were perfect, rolled at 10.0 (posted each day on the 1st tee by superintendent). The only complaint we had was we couldn’t find any weeds; they just didn’t exist. Also, many greens had 1st and 2nd cuts bordering them, just as with the high dollar courses.

Nice Course

This is a very nice course, fairly well manicured and well laid out. The only thing that I would have liked, was a map of the course. I had to well placed shots that ended up in the water because I didn’t know that hazard existed. I would definitely recommend this course.

To expensive

hello, golf legends disappointed me, the price ... $ 60 per person instead of $ 40 because with golf now, it said resident or military but no clear instructions that we had to pay $ 60 instead of $ 40 ... the pitch for this price is absolutely overpriced. very disappointed ... Yves
