#4 West is a cool short par three with several good tee angles into an undulating green. Photo submitted by DenisDotson on 03/28/2020

The best scenery is on #8 West - a long and testing par 5 along the Calabash River. Photo submitted by DenisDotson on 03/28/2020

Too hot
Played on 100 degree day, high humidity. Course Tee box to green excellent shape. Greens had some rough spots. Pro shop did advise of this and gave us coupon for replay of $30 as an "apology" prior to playing. I have a second residence there, but the coupon expires in a week, not much use to me. Had course practically to ourselves. Pearl is always a good choice in the Myrtle area.
Everything but the greens.
The course is in good shape, the staff friendly and helpful. The only problem some of the greens have some rough patches or a fungus growing on them. They are working on solving the problem, only effects your play if you have to putt across that spot.
The Pearl Should be on your Must-Play List
I played the East course. Most of the holes wander through pine forest, but the last three have excellent views of marsh that borders the intracoastal waterway.
The greens have MiniVerde Bermuda grass and are very receptive to approach shots. They had been verticut and top-dressed, but still putted O.K. Fairways and sand traps were in excellent condition.
The starters and beverage girl were very friendly; I was virtually invisible to the pro shop staff. Oh well, I saved $50 I otherwise would have spent on a new shirt.
I played as a single behind a foursome (who would not let me play through) and finished in just under four hours.
Deceitful description.
What you first need to know, assuming you haven't played Pearl West and are intrigued by the "links" description, is that it is not at all a links course. It is simply a wide open course. The greens are in great shape but they are extremely slow for what a links course would offer. The fairways are wide open with an occasional bunker or dogleg, but they clearly hadn't been mowed in three or four days making them far too slow for a links design. Pearl West is a real nice, wide open golf course. But if, like our group, you get excited about the opportunity to play a links-style course, please make your reservation elsewhere. You will be sorely disappointed with Pearl West.
long-n- lean
Great layout, a few wet spots but over all in great condition. Greens were fast, traps were a bit hard, no two holes alike and played as marked although some PGA fairway markers did not coincide with GPS yardages. Very fair and clean with a nice range and putting green. Would definitely recommend and prepare for a fun challenging day...
great greens
course was in very good condition a little wet after rain cart path only ,true greens in very good condition for early spring better than the 30 other courses we played this winter
Always a good course to play. Good condition
Played The Pearl many times, both east and west course. Played east course today. Was in good condition, especially the greens. They were a little slow, but typical for the season. Somewhat challenging course. Some narrow fairways with water and/or sand just where you don't want it. But a very enjoyable course for the price. Lots of forest around. Have seen deer and fox not to mention a few gators.
nice affordable round of golf
The course was in very good condition and certainly challenging , played from the proper tees. Pace was good until we got to # 10 when the staff had started some groups on the back nine.
Interesting course
The Peal East had a nice layout and some challenging holes. The day we played it was cart paths only and rained for the first 4 holes. After that, the course was of course still very wet, but playable. Would definitely play again in better weather.
Pearl East
Good layout and great staff, challenging greens but a fair test from the proper tees, will be back soon!
Forces you to think about each shot
The Pearl East layout differs a lot from hole to hole. Sometimes you need to carry water, hit a fade around a dog leg flanked by thick trees or punch a ball under hanging limbs. Greens were in great condition and rolled very true. Staff was friendly. The only strange thing is that the last tee time is at 3:30. I finished my round ten minutes after (3:40) and wasnt allowed to go back out for a replay of their West Course. Definitely a good value for the local rate.
Great value
A great course considering the rate you will pay. The staff was also very friendly and accomadating. Greens were in excellent condition but some work could be attended to near the sides of the greens, those areas were a little shabby. Otherwise the course was a very beautiful track through the Carolina pines.
Nice place to play
Overall, for February after an ice storm, the course was in great shape. Layout is above average. Greens are excellent - quick for this area, especially this time of year. Course was pretty empty due to cold/wind so I breezed around quickly. Pro, starter, cart guy, etc. the entire staff was great! Looking forward to going back!
Another Dan Maples Gem
Staff was friendly, especially the cart attendant who was a wealth of information. Carts were allowed everywhere, which was a little surprising as there were a few wet spots, but it did make for an under 4 hour round. Played the east course, which has converted to mini-verde bermuda greens. Being a northerner, it took a bit of adjustment, but the greens were in very good shape for December. The course mostly runs through Carolina hardwood forest, but the last three holes do run along the salt marsh. The marsh besides being very scenic, adds the chance of the wind coming into play. I have yet to play a Dan Maples design that I did not find challenging yet fun to play.
nice track
played from the whites, moderately challeging but very fun. Condition was very good considering the time of year. Green were faster than I expected but rolled true.
I should keep this a secret !!!!
This is a hidden gem ,I should keep it to myself.
Course is in great shape and challenging for all levels
Staff was nice and I will certainly return on my next trip to Myrtle.
Good value for the bucks
Lots of wild life, deer, gators and turtles. Also, a great course to play.
