Great round at Rio Pinar
The course is in great shape. We were paired up with a nice father/son team. The layout is fair and fun. The bunkers had beautiful sand and made them easy to get out of. You won’t lose too many balls if you’re not hitting wild shots. The beverage cart seem to arrive in perfect timing.
All in all, we’re going back tomorrow.
Really nice course.
Greens we're in excellent shape and ball rolled true. Fairways were really nice. Rough wasn't too tall and all but one tee box were good. Driving range was closed. Bummer when you need to loosen up. All in all, 4.5 out of 5.
Wonderful time at Rio Pinar
It was a sweet round day at Rio Pinar. Greeted nicely upon arrival and at the starter station. Then played an excellent condition and layout track. Greens rolled true and we made some good scores. Overall, strongly recommend to golfers of any levels.
Terrible experience for a group of “Non-Members”
Our recent experience at Rio Pinar Golf Course was extremely disappointing.
From the start, it felt like our group was unwelcome and unfairly judged. Despite our foursome keeping a reasonable pace and with no one waiting behind us, the ranger approached us on the third hole, questioning our speed. It seemed obvious that his judgment was based on superficial assumptions about our group—two of us weren’t highly experienced golfers, but we were moving along just fine.
Things only got worse on the fifth tee. The ranger stopped us again, questioning one of my friend’s handicap and suggesting we weren’t playing “realistic” golf. It was insulting and unnecessary, as my group and I were following course rules and not causing any delays. His reasoning? The twosome behind us were members. I reminded him that I could be a future member too and that respect should go both ways, but he continued his overly intrusive approach.
Even after we let the twosome pass, the ranger continued to hover over us for the entire round, which left us unable to relax or enjoy the game. We felt policed and watched like we were doing something wrong, even though we were adhering to etiquette and doing nothing to disrupt play. Then, at the turn, when we made a quick stop to use the restroom and refill on ice, another staff member approached us yet again to comment on our pace.
On top of everything, Rio Pinar seems to have a problem with overbooking tee times, scheduling them only ten minutes apart. Instead of acknowledging this as a course management issue, they chose to unfairly blame us, further compounding our frustration.
In the end, what should have been a relaxing day was ruined by constant monitoring, judgment, and lack of respect. We left feeling mentally drained and frustrated, as though we were targeted the entire time. If you’re looking for a friendly and fair golfing experience, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. Rio Pinar’s poor treatment of customers and overbooking practices make it difficult to enjoy the game.
Overall great - Cart & Ads are terrible possibily won't go back bc of the carts.
Golf and staff are awesome but someone needs to fix the carts. Using the cart is a moving tv commercial and a hovering parent all in one. Terrible. I honestly would consider not going back b/c of the carts.
Pace of Play
2:30 tee time on Wednesday. 3.5hrs through 11 holes. Great track, staff, and one of the best club houses in the central Florida area. They need to stop overbooking as tee times are every 8 minutes and makes it unbearably slow. As much as I love this track, I will not be back for a while as this is my experience every time I play here.
Rio Pinar
Windy most of the day. Course was in good condition but some tempary tees because their redoing some tee boxes
getting better!
i always enjoy playing rio when i’m in florida and definitely noticed a difference in grounds maintenance and course conditions under the new ownership. whatever they’re doing, keep doing it!!
Carts and Pace.
The carts are ridiculously slow. Carts have a governor that shut the cart down to 3mph when you leave the fairway. So if you don't hit every fairway good luck. Pace of play was awful 5-6 hour rounds on the weekend. Sadly that is public golf in orlando these days. We need a course in town for skilled players only. Club house is elite and the squirrels are a great touch.

Hello u314162226350,
I appreciate your review and your comments. As a golf course we get caught on both sides of the "Pace of Play" issue. If we don't do anything other than encourage players to pick up the pace, then we are branded as a 6 hour round of golf...on the other hand, if we do try to enforce the expected pace of play, we get hammered with comments like yours about about us being heavy handed or hovering and making the day uncomfortable for the players. So while our intention is to never create an atmosphere where our customers are not enjoying themselves we do hope that both sides of the slow play issue can see it from our side which is...we don't create the slow play problem, our tee times are properly spaced at 9 minutes, not the 10 minutes you thought was not enough time, other than private courses, very few have 10 minutes tee times as it is not necessary if all players are playing ready golf and understand the etiquette and what they are doing. Slow play doesn't start from 9 minute tee times. The golf course itself is not overly penalizing and I think as our score cards says, Keep the Pace of play which is also displayed on our GPS on the golf carts, so our job is to make sure all our customers that day have an enjoyable time which means they play at a pace that everyone expects so that they don't feel they are out at Rio all day.
A few things from your day.
1. As we realized late but missed when you teed off, is that you only had 3 sets of clubs for 4 players. The club rule which is common at all clubs, is that each player should have their own set of club so that you aren't waiting for the clubs from a players bag your are borrowing from.
2. When our starter first came up to your group 3-4 holes into your round, you acknowledged you were a hole behind and your group said that you would pick it up. He came back a few holes later and you had fallen 2 holes behind. He did not feel that was picking it up so he asked if you were playing a triple bogey pick up and perhaps and encouraging you was a way to keep pace. Again, while firm I know he would be respectful at all times but, the expectations at all courses is that players keep pace whether there are players behind them. The saying that you can only play as fast as the slowest group is very true so our goal is to try to keep things moving no matter what.
While I could extend this reply, I think that your experience and what you thought you should be able to do versus what our golf course expects from our players will never line up so I will simply say again, as a golf course operator, we get beat up from both sides of this issue. Our Ranger was simply doing his job, I would suggest that you and your group take a bit harder look at your role in your pace of play. I also understand you will not come out to Rio Pinar again, while we will miss you, we receive a lot of positive pace of play, golf course conditions and staff interaction reviews that I know we are not necessarily the whole problem but, pace of play at a golf course is every golf course main issue, and I won't apologize for trying to encourage your group to keep things moving regardless of how it may of been perceived.
