Hilton Head National Golf Club
About
Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.
A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.
Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.
Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

Best Course We Played Over 3 Days
Very pleased with our round at Hilton Head National. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent driving range and putting area.
The best and most interesting greens of the course we played. Not super difficult but you need to notice the breaks and speed of the greens.
We were paired with somewhat novice golfers which led to a nearly 5 hour round. Not great on that score but I guess that's always a risk when playing resort golf.
We always enjoy playing this course when we come to Hilton Head. It is very pretty and always in good condition.
Lovely course with very friendly staff. Pretty holes and a nice variety. Good for all levels of players.
Enjoyable course layout
First time playing in Hilton Head and enjoyed the course. Staff extremely friendly. Expected better conditions on tee boxes and some greens that needed cleaning. Would play there again.
Good course
Course was in good shape. A little pricey at 80 per person for my taste.i was expecting ocean views at that price. But overal a nice course to play staff was nice.
Great winter play
Staff was friendly and facilities top notch. We played as a twosome and paired with another twosome. Course was a bit wet which restricted cart path only on some holes, not always obvious and the marshal a bit terse. Greens in great shape. Would play again!
Star course
Great way to spend a sunny morning. Well laid out course with interesting greens. Lots of challenges for all levels and rewards for good shots. Can hardly wait to return.
One of the best at HHI
Very enjoyable round. Pace of play excellent. Ores in good shape for early Spring.
The course was in great shape and the staff friendly and efficient.
HH National is a must course to play when you're in the Hilton Head area. The conditions in early Feb were superb, compared to most courses in the area at that time. The fairways were well-drained and the greens were in great condition. The layout was somewhat unusual in that the paths to several holes intertwined, but it was well marked.
Only negative is that it wasn't over-seeded.
Nice course for the dollar
Great design, greens are well kept and overseeded nicely. Staff was a little weak. Fairways were not overseeded as in years past.
Pure golf, no homes to contend with, nice.
I'd play again. Nice layout with generous fairways. good greens and bunkers.
Great value and great condition!
We played this course on our first trip to Hilton Head in December. This course was in the best shape of any Hilton Head courses we played and was definitely the best value for the money. The food was good, staff were very friendly. We enjoyed this course so much we played a second round!
Great Value golf Course, Easy Access
Enjoy the golf course,. It was in good condition especially considering the overnight rain in the area.
Some very nice par 3's.
Greens were in good condition but did not roll as fast as they looked.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Loved this course. Well maintained.
The condition of the greens was outstanding. Nice layout. Very nice course to play.
Outstanding layout and excellent conditions!!
I haven't played HHN in over 10 years and was anxious to get back. The course was is great shape and staff couldn't have treated me any better. I will certainly be back and will recommend HHN to all my friends.
Loved it!
A must play course for anyone traveling to the Hilton Head area.
Exceptional Course at an extremely affordable rate.
Great location, no houses or condos, course was in great shape, staff was friendly. The course was fair to the average golfer, yet challenging. Course was in exceptional shape fantastic greens, challenging to read. I highly recommend this course.
Good course. No houses
Classic Hilton Head golf. Small greens, lots of trees, dog legs, swamps and narrow fairways. Don't need a lot of distance, but accuracy is at a premium.
