About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Much better than expected
Greens were maybe two or three weeks post-punch, but rolled well and were receptive to good shots, but not soft. The rest of the course was in much better shape than I expected for mid-June. Very few bad patches, none of which were particularly in play. Layout was good, with only a couple of holes where having a map would help you decide the beat shot from the tee.
Golf Review
Greens were punched and didn’t know it when we booked. Should have reduced price if the greens were almost unplayable.
Aerated greens
Paid $100 with no aeration advisory. Definitely not worth the price with those conditions. Good staff was very friendly and the post round meal was yummy.
Follow a rain drop
The day after a nice rain storm, the course looked and played well. Greens were in great shape and layout is cool with many doglegs. Just be careful with club selection unless you can bend it. One of the best layouts and value in the HHI area. Played Golfen Bear and it was nice but prefer this layout.
Nice course. Great round til we caught up to a twosome that were so slow. Clubhouse closed when we finished at 5pm, so couldnt have a beer/food. Very disappointed.
Overall ok. A little pricey for the conditions.
I enjoyed the course overall. It was a little pricey for the slow play and conditions. The staff was friendly. One of my biggest gripes is that the numbered hole markers and the score card didn’t give a representation of the hole layout. On some holes it was just a guess as to how far to hit or what angle of approach to take etc.
Course in Great Condition
First time back after a couple of years.
Significant improvement since then. Greens were in great shape as were fairways. Course design can be challenging. Greens are relatively small with most surrounded by bunkers which requires thought as to approach shots.
Pace of play was good.

Course was in excellent condition. Challenging but fair. Would like to see coffee and drinks available for early tee times

Course is in excellent condition. Fist bump to the superintendent and his team. Tee boxes and Green in great shape as well! Only thing missing was sand trap needed raked.
Bartender and Pro Shop staff were friendly and helpful
Loved the course, can't wait to go back! Highly recommend.
