Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

Bear Creek Golf
For whatever reason this was one of the only HHI courses I never played. From the time I arrived both the golf shop staff and cart people were friendly and hepful along with the starter. Course was in great shape other than several greens that could use some TLC. Pace was very good, 3 45 for the round. I will defenately be back. The only thing I didnt comment on was the bar/ food. We finished 6 50pm and the building was closed.
First Time Bear Creek Player
Good experience. Enjoyed layout and quality of greens.
HH Golf
Very good layout especially the back 9
Good conditions comparable to the other courses we played during the week
Would definitely play again
Looking forward to going back.
So my first impression of the course was overall positive. The staff is obviously putting work into caring for every part pf the course. The greens roll true and the rough was a reasonable length. I maybe saw 1 weed on the front nine. The problem is I only got to play the front 9 due to the start time being pushed back almost an hour. There were not enough carts for the amount of players by the afternoon. The staff was very friendly and invited us back for a discounted round in the future. So definitely play here just be sure to play in the morning.
Nice course, fast greens
The only thing missing was signs or a course overview. Being new to the course. It would have been nice to see how the holes were laid out
Staff very unpersonable!
Bag drop guys barely talked to you unless you asked them a question. Starter was no where around we just went to hole #1 and got started. Pro shop ladies seemed friendly, but for some reason we didn't get lunch vouchers which wouldn't be a big deal except we paid $100 a person and the guy who joined us paid 75 and did get a free lunch voucher.. then when we asked the ladies about it in the bar she made a joke out of it and then still charged $55 for 3 sandwiches and 5 Gatorade. Definitely wouldn't recommend this course. The course itself was solid. The staff sucked.
Good value
Reasonably good shape !
Good value , less than $60 after 2pm
No staff around , no starter
Free range balls is nice
Lots of dog legs !
Great value for $$$
Considering outrageous $$$ other courses on HHI are charging, Bear Creek was a treat to play and exceptional value for what we paid. No marshalls bothering us (as others have noted previously), greens were impeccable (and FAST!) and pace of play was perfect! Fairways and tee boxes in great shape! Free range balls but no free lunch as we have had in the past… no problem as we had eaten prior to our tee off. Will play again before we head home!
Great value for money
Course is in totally acceptable shape. Our rate was $59 at 2 pm. Finished week before dark. Pace iof play was totally normal. Waited a bit on a few holes. No sweat.
Bad experience
Poor course management, rude rangers. Over book the course and rush players through their round. If you play early eat before you go. No food until after 11:00am. No food cart and no water in the course. Play somewhere else.
The reason for the low rating is due to the course rangers. Our group hadn’t even finished the first hole and the starter came out to remind us we needed to play faster. On hole #2 we hadn’t even hit our 2nd shot before another ranger came up and demanded we move it along. He wanted us to pick up and go to the next hole which we did not. We played the front nine in 2 hours and 9 minutes and under 2 hours on the back. The starter indicated they’ve averaged 200 rounds per day this year which is great for business but don’t rush me through a vacation round with my family just because you’ve overbooked your course. If you play early eat before you go. The restaurant doesn’t open before 11:00am. No food cart, no water on the course. Bag drop guy was rude.

Pace of play
I knew we were in for when we pulled up to the bag drop and they were people and bags all over it. Got a golf cart 20 minutes before our tee time. We teed off 15 minutes past our tee time. 4:45 round, waited on every single shot. Course was in good shape, greens were fairly quick and consistent.
