Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

Good for your dollar!
This is you typical save your dollar corse. Maint needs to be done grass could be better maintained. Overall great play for $38.00 and lunch I would go again.
Good fast round
Nice round for the price. Greens and tees in good shape, some fairways were very wet
Good Value
This course is a good value for the average golfer looking for a reasonable golf day. After a day of rain previously, the course was really wet and the roughs were very muddy (yea, I know ... then stay on the fairway). We played with friends who stay in the area for a few weeks each year and we had a most enjoyable day together. And after the game the patio was a pleasant place to visit and talk about old times. Worth the money and the drive.
Pace of play
Pace of play is horrible. Haven't been able to play the back 9 both times I've played due to people not knowing how to play golf
Love the format
I like playing this format. I have never encountered one with 6 par 3s, 4s and 5s.
Not to Shabby
Friendly Staff...decent warm up area with 2 putting greens. The practice facility was dirt (i didn't use it). If you play fairways and greens its amazing. Theres not much of a rough cause its dirt or desert. Its decent for the money. This is the type of course I play to build confidence and work on a few things. I played the back tees and there was not a par 3 under 200. The course is a 6-6-6. Meaning 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's, and 6 par 5's.
This course needs a lot of work
Greens were actually pretty good, but fairways were thin, traps inconsistent, areas off-fairway terrible, tee boxes crowned and uncut. I played this course last year and it was in significantly better condition. Strong winds didn't help ...
Rough day. Poor moms back
I took my mother age 74 out golfing to this course. Golf now had this 50% off so the green fees was 30$ per person with cart. This was a fair rate for this course with the cart and 18 holes. Right. I would not ever pay full price due to the entire place needs repairs everywhere. I did like the sand traps I was in several of them. Not biggie but some really needed to be weeded and have sand in them. Greens in really good shape. Driving the cart was really rough due to it was jerky my back still hurts and I know mom is also feeling it.
Great course for the money.
Great course for the money. First time playing this course, we made it around in 4 hrs. and did not wait on any holes. Fareways were a little long but greens were in great shape. Plan to play again with friends.
Nice Greens
The fairway was okay to good, but very over watered. Lots of areas of standing water and muddy . Almost no rough area. Mostly renegade grass. The greens were very good shape and had been rolled. Group in front of us must have been playing a high dollar game, as they were extremely slow. However the ranger came by and they agreed to pick it up. The price was fair, but the club house was a very simple area and not what you would expect for a pro shop. All in all it was okay and I may play it again.
This is a "$20.00" Course, at best!
Staff extremely friendly. Greens in decent condition. Tee boxes terrible. Fairways atrocious with multiple areas of hard pan scattered throughout. Two ball washers on entire course. This would be a great course for beginners or those just learning the game, or those just wanting to get out and whack a ball around without breaking the bank.
newer ownership
New owners are trying to make improvements.Shop staff friendly and courteous. Carts are OK. Greens are fairly good. Need on course assistants to maintain pace of play. A lot better than in previous years. Will play again.
Course Opinion
Fairways in great condition, bunkers have great feeling sand when hitting out of it. Greens are in good condition. Worth price of admission.
course has improved
a pleasant surprise. the course is in the best shape I have seen it in the 5 years playing it. good pace of play
.
Good value
It is a little out of way but worth the drive. A little rough around the edges but seems to improve each time we play there.
Greens are in excellent shape, tough to read which makes it a challenge. Reasonable green fees and not overbooked.give it a try and you will not be disappointed.
Good for practice rounds
Renamed some years ago from Bouganvilla is about the only thing that has changed. Course is straight, wide with undulating greens. Surrounding mounds are hard panned dirt.
Go there for the price and you'll get what expected. I paid $19 in Hot Deal. Don't pay more than $28 in high season.
Accommodating Staff.
The course is quite good and fun to play.
I like the area it is in and the length of the course is good for me and my game. Staff is friendly and helpful at all times. I would recommend it to my friends,
Good pace
I thought the combo of the 6 par 3's, 4's and 5's was interesting.
The course was rough around the edges but the fairways were fine and the greens were great.
I was in a twosome with foursomes all around and we still played 18 holes in 4 hours and 20 minutes, and really did not have to wait very often.
This course is fun to play
I had a great time playing this course. Nice fairways and pretty fast greens. I had a great time and would definitely play here again.
decent greens, slow pace
the greens on this course were much better than the other courses in this price range. The fairways were not great, but again OK for a budget course. The only problem was the pace. five hours was a little much. from what I have seen, this is not the norm for this course. Just beware of slow players. The Marshall doesn't seem to help push people along.
