Southern Ridge Golf Club
About
Southern Ridge Golf Club, formerly known as Bougainvillea Golf Club, offers some of the most stunning views anywhere in the valley. The South and Estrella Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to the golf course. Southern Ridge is known for more than its views though, it has a unique layout that combines six par 3s, par 4s, and par 5s. The championship course plays to 6,751 yards. It offers a good amount of length for long hitters but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners thanks to generous fairways and large, undulating greens. Although the fairways are wide, don't be lulled into a sense of security. They are flanked with more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are enough challenges for an interesting round but it's not an overly difficult golf course.

the course has a nice flat layout and good views of the greens from the tee box
enjoyed the layout of the fairways and didn't lose a ball, the greens were in good shape and the fairways nice and wide for the odd slice or hook. We all had a great experience and will certainly come back
Beginner Friendly
Fairly straightforward course.....very suitable for beginners.. reasonable warm up course for middle handicappers....Greens and T Boxes were in good condition rest of golf course showing wear...Stay out of the traps......Staff very courteous and friendly...
Great atmosphere
Golfed here last year and came back this year for 7 rounds . Usually done in 3-31/2 hours most enjoyable. Staff was great friendly and if you got there early if possible they let you out early. Greens ran true and we're quick . Beer ice cold and great price . I will be sure to come back next April for further golf .
Good layout
the course has a great layout and can bring challenges. Open and forgiving for mid teen HCs. Maintenance was poor in many places. Especially the #18 water hazard, which was in disrepair, and stagnant, with dead and rotting fish odors wafting over the green. Needs some work. Greens were good shape.
Good for working on your alignment
Holes are pretty much straight forward. Although the fairways were green outside of that was dirt, not desert, dirt. Good for beginners.
Great course for the price
Never a wait, long course with nice Par5's and long Par3's. Great price for a decent course.
Worth the drive - long way from Scottsdale but good value for money
The traffic was terrible getting there (Laveen) first thing in the morning, but we were kindly accommodated by the Pro Shop (despite being very late) by letting us go off the 10th, and then 1 to 9, which worked well for us with no hold-ups. Lunch was included - the course was in fairly good condition so we were happy with it all. The journey back out of rush hour was fine.
Enjoyable Saturday Outing
I enjoy Southern Ridge because it is close to home and is affordable for local residents. Fairways and greens were in above average condition. Had some dusty conditions as winds picked up in the afternoon and a farm field was being plowed nearby - no fault of the course. Overall a very enjoyable visit. Only disappointment was there was no beverage cart service. Hope to see that reinstated for my next visit.
Best Value in the Valley!
Great and friendly staff, wonderful value, and unique combo of 6 par 5's. 6 par 4's and 6 par 3's!
Will go again for sure!

Too dusty, terrible windy conditions
Not a fair rating because wind was terrible and dirt was blowing throughput the day.
Will
I signed up as a single. There was a foursome in front of me. The starter let me go ahead to catch up with a twosome. Everyone was very friendly, had a great time. Pace was good, we finished in @ 4 hrs. Course was in average/good condition. I will play here again. Tee boxes a little rough.
Poor condition
Fairways, rough, very poorly maintained. Lots of bare spots, dirt. Driving range is made up of dirt mounds and weeds. Poor quality range balls.
Greens are the only part of this course that's in good shape.
Staff is pleasant.
well worth the money!
First time playing, will def return. Teed off at 10:30 played 20 holes in 4 hours, and it was Friday so Coors light drafts were only .99. The courser is in great conditon with 4 sets of tees. Pretty wide open so not to challenging but great place to bring friends and have fun without getting to angry at arid shots.
Good value
I like that there are 6 par 4s, 6 par 3s and 6par 5s. Fairways and greens were in good condition. The bunkers and rough could use some attention.
Free retal clubs, how nice!
Very impressed with the gentlemen who checked us in. Friendly...no charge for set of rental clubs because he admitted they weren't very nice (but they were ok). Tees were in good shape; fairways were playable and greens were good. Can't beat that for $30 and a 3.5 hour round.
Economical
Almost owned the course as there was very few golfers. Play was fast and enjoyable, To become more challenging they need to bring in more water and trees the course.
good value for the money
Greens and fairways are in good shape. The course is continually improving.
challenging greens
We arrived at the course well ahead of our tee time and asked if we could go out early if they had an opening, we ended up going out with the next group! The course is in very good condition and provides plenty of challenge, from the well placed bunkers, to the undulating greens and the occasional narrow fairway. With the mountains in the background and the lush green of the course it made for an enjoyable round. The pace of play was excellent for a Sat. morning.
Better than expected
I decided to play the course becuase it was the only reasonable rate in the valley. I was pleasently suprised the course in the same condition as a Western Skies or Aguilla for 2/3 the price. The staff was friendly, and the pace was OK. The wind was terrible that day but the greens still played well. I would suggest this course for anyone looking to beat the outragous March prices in the valley.
ok course not too difficult
greens were just OK could be more care for , fairways good , but if you in the rough well that;s not so good you'll get more strokes and be upset
